Nomophobia is a state of anxiety and fear that individuals experience when they are unable to use their cell phones or when they are not around. With the development of network and communication technology, cell phones have become an integral part of modern life. The powerful functions of cell phones have met more needs and changed people’s daily behaviors and habits. As a subtype of cell phone dependence, nomophoboia has become the most prominent phenomenon among adolescents in the context of the "cell phone ban" environment, and nomophoboia can induce many psychological problems among students on campus. The current domestic research on nomophoboia is limited, and most of the previous studies focus on the analysis of the current situation of nomophoboia and the discussion of the relationship between two,and the explanation mechanism of nomophoboia is not clear yet,and there is also a lack of corresponding intervention programs. Therefore, this study explored the measurement, explanatory mechanisms, and intervention programs of cell phone fear through three cascading studies.Study 1 focused on the applicability of the nomophoboia Scale in high school students to examine whether its nomophoboia Scale fits psychometric characteristics in a cohort group of high school students. After item analysis, exploratory factor analysis, validation analysis, retest reliability analysis, and cross-gender and cross-grade equivalence tests,it was shown that the nomophoboia Scale has good reliability and validity in the high school student population and can be used to assess the nomophoboia in the high school student population. In Study 2774 valid data were collected through a questionnaire to investigate the relationship between nnomophoboia, loneliness, and depression. After correlation and regression analyses, the results showed that(1)nomophoboia was positively related to depressed mood and positively related to loneliness;loneliness was positively related to depressed mood;(2)nomophoboia positively predicted depressed mood and loneliness, and loneliness positively predicted depressed mood, and loneliness played a partially mediating role between nomophoboia and depressed mood.Study 3,based on Study 2,set out to improve the nomophoboia in a group of high school students by designing a thematic group counseling program with corresponding cognitive reassessment.Individuals with high levels of no cell phone fear, loneliness, and depression were identified to enter Study 3,30 in total, and were randomly divided into 2groups,15 of which entered the nomophoboia intervention group and the other 15 served as a blank control group. The members of the experimental group performed a total of 8activities,once a week, and the blank control group was not treated with the intervention. The results of the study showed that after the group counseling for the nomophoboia intervention, the level of nomophoboia among the team members was significantly reduced, and significant reductions in loneliness and depression occurred. This study provides empirical support as well as practical ideas for improving the level of cell phone-free fear and mental health efforts.
