The 2022 edition of the Language Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education proposes whole-book reading as a learning task group,emphasizing that the language curriculum should cultivate students’ ability to read whole books independently.The unified version of the textbook also increases the weight of extra-curricular reading in its arrangement,incorporates whole-book reading into the curriculum,and advocates that students read using a variety of methods to carry out their reading in an integrated manner and be able to share and communicate their reading results.However,for various reasons,the reading of masterpieces,which is an important part of whole book reading,is often left at the edge of language classroom teaching,resulting in ineffective teacher-guided reading and misaligned roles of teachers and students.To change this situation,it is urgent to make changes to the teaching of masterpiece reading.As a novel and effective teaching model,PBL points to the construction of authentic situations,the creation of driven tasks,and the public presentation of results,allowing students to acquire core knowledge and form key competencies through independent inquiry and cooperative learning.This coincides with the teaching methods required for whole-book reading.Therefore,based on the relevant requirements of the new curriculum,this study focuses on the current situation of guided reading teaching of elementary school masterpieces.Based on an in-depth analysis of the unified version of the textbook,this study carries out a practice of guided reading teaching of masterpieces based on the PBL model,trying to solve existing problems,enrich teaching strategies,and improve the efficiency of guided reading teaching of masterpieces.This paper combines literature research and action research,sorts out the basis of elementary school language guided reading,analyzes the content of guided reading in the unified textbook,and finds the current problems of teachers’ low teaching efficiency,students’ poor reading effect,and an unsatisfactory teaching environment.It is then proposed that to design guided reading teaching activities,students should be the main body to implement core literacy training,create real situations,organize practical activities,and build a PBL-based teaching theory that includes real situations,task-driven,cooperative inquiry,results reporting,and evaluation feedback.Finally,based on the above principles,processes,and strategies,the theoretical model is combined with the actual teaching to design,practice,and reflect on the teaching based on the example of reading the whole book "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer".
