The State has always attached importance to the moral education of young people,and moral education in schools is an important part of promoting the all-round development of young people.Among the studies on moral education in schools conducted by the academia,the moral education in rural schools is the weak point of the studies.This paper focuses on the moral education work in schools at the junior high school level in the western rural areas,and generally follows the logical line of presenting the problem,analysing the problem and solving the problem.First,this study intends to provide an overall grasp of the problems that exist in the development of moral education work in schools from four key aspects,including teachers’ awareness of the status of moral education work in schools,school management level,teachers’ moral leadership,and curriculum construction in western rural junior high schools.Based on the practical research,this study found that the importance of moral education work was unanimously agreed by teachers,the status of moral education work was significantly enhanced,moral education courses were liked by the vast majority of students,and the effectiveness of moral education work continued to improve.At the same time,the following problems exist:the importance of moral education has not been fully implemented in practice;the function of moral education has not been highlighted in the process of student management;teachers’ moral leadership of students is insufficient;and teachers of professional moral education courses are weak.Secondly,the problems with moral education in schools are influenced by many factors,including the school itself,students’ families,local education administration departments,the rural community environment and many other factors.Firstly,the problems at the school level are as follows:the concept of "teaching to the test" has not yet been completely transformed;the over-emphasis on campus safety has failed to highlight the function of moral education in the process of managing students;teachers’ moral leadership of students is weakened due to their poor state of existence;in addition,the inadequate construction of a team of moral education professionals in schools has also restricted the effective implementation of moral education.The effective implementation of moral education work is also constrained by the inadequate construction of a team of moral education professionals in schools.Secondly,the problems of students’ families.Parents’ low literacy and lack of awareness of the importance of home-school moral education cooperation increase the difficulty and complexity of moral education work in schools,and parents’ unstable marriages also weaken the moral education power of families.Once again,problems involving the grassroots education administration include the lack of management power in implementing moral education policies and the relatively homogeneous evaluation system for teachers.Finally,factors in the rural social environment,the loss of rural talent has weakened the rural moral base,and the rural moral environment does not provide good support for moral education in schools.Thirdly,based on the problems found in the research and the analysis of their causes,it is necessary to promote the effectiveness of moral education work in schools from the following perspectives:the main school function needs to be strengthened,the moral education concept of the school’s teaching staff should be changed from "teacher of the scriptures" to "teacher of the people",the management should be permeated with We should improve the government’s guarantee mechanism,use a scientific concept of moral education to guide the implementation of moral education policies,give schools autonomy,and strengthen special supervision of moral education;build a social support system for rural family education,and enhance the family education capacity of rural parents;we should also strengthen the construction of rural Community cultural and moral construction.
