Many studies on vocabulary size show that there is a high positive correlation between vocabulary size and reading comprehension ability and writing expression ability.Vocabulary size has an important influence on reading and writing.The vocabulary test scale with high reliability and validity can enable teachers to understand students ’ vocabulary,formulate teaching plans,measure teaching effects and improve teaching behaviors according to the test results.Students can also use the scale to self-diagnose their vocabulary and make personal vocabulary learning plans.The scientificity of the scale is mainly reflected in four aspects : vocabulary selection,test design,test selection,reliability and validity : First of all,the vocabulary source of the scale is the four-level words in the middle and middle school section of the ’ Compulsory Education Common Words List(Draft)’.Using the frequency table method,the word frequency of the four-level words is reordered as the word extraction table.According to the proportion of nouns,verbs and adjectives in the four-level words,50 test target words are randomly selected to ensure the objective process of word selection.Secondly,the scale adopts the form of test questions with good reliability and validity in previous studies.It is determined that the receptive vocabulary test questions are in the form of non-context interpretation choice questions,and the productive vocabulary test questions are in the form of using target words to make sentences.Third,the test questions need to be selected in three indicators : comprehensive difficulty,discrimination and option attractiveness to ensure the validity of the test questions.The test sets were distributed to 6 prefecture-level schools in Fujian Province,and 45-minute classroom paper-and-pencil tests were conducted on junior high school students.A total of 665 valid test papers were collected.SPSS.26 was used to quantitatively analyze the test questions.Finally,43 test questions were selected to form a scale.Finally,the reliability and validity of the scale are good.Based on the descriptive statistics and inferential statistics of the vocabulary size test results,it is found that : First,there are significant differences between word level and grade,word level and part of speech.Students of all grades have worse recognition and use of words that are less common(or more difficult).2.There are differences in vocabulary mastery of different word classes and parts of speech in different grades.Grade 3.7 is a period of rapid development of students ’ vocabulary accumulation.Therefore,teachers should first pay attention to the differences in students ’ mastery of different word levels and parts of speech in different grades,and adopt different methods of teaching;secondly,we should seize the high-speed development period of vocabulary accumulation,help students accumulate vocabulary efficiently in the critical period,and train students to use vocabulary.
