Teaching materials are the first pass to ensure the quality of education and teaching.Appropriate problem situation is conducive to cultivating students’ core literacy.Therefore,studying the setting of problem situation in teaching materials is of great significance for in-depth understanding of teaching materials,good use of teaching materials,and implementation of core literacy.This paper selects the A edition of high school mathematics textbook of People ’s Education Press(referred to as the A edition of People ’s Education Press in 2019)approved by the expert committee of the National Textbook Committee in 2019 as the research object,and establishes the analysis framework of seven dimensions,such as representation characteristics,situation type,situation and mathematical culture relevance,problem and situation consistency,as well as the two background factors of problem function type and subject,and encodes the problem situation in the textbook according to the operability definition of each dimension.To analyze the coded data,the conclusions of this study are as follows :First,the problem situation is distributed in the form of ‘text is more important,text and charts and pictures are less’ in terms of representation characteristics;in terms of the type of situation,it is distributed in the form of ‘personal situation is more important than professional situation,social situation and scientific situation’;in terms of cultural relevance,the number of problem situation related to mathematical culture as a whole is low;in terms of the authenticity of the situation,the constructive situation is the main;in terms of situational coherence,the situation appears once;in terms of the times of the situation,the number of problem situation with the characteristics of the times is low.Second,in the degree of consistency between problem and situation,the problem situation with the same level of knowledge form and situation complexity is the main ones,and the degree of consistency is good.Third,the problems of different types and themes have different degrees of influence on the seven dimensions of the problem situation.There are three types of relationships between the seven dimensions of the problem situation :two-way influence,one-way influence and independence.Based on research conclusions,four suggestions are put forward to improve the quality of the use of problem situation in textbooks and optimize the design of problem situation in the classroom :(1)Appropriately strengthen the diversification of problem situation representation forms;(2)Moderately enhance the integration of problem situation and mathematical culture;(3)Effectively improve the authenticity level of problem situation.(4)Effectively improve the coherence level of the problem situation;(5)Effectively improve the level of the times of the problem situation.In the future research,we should make full use of the value of problem situation,case studies that pay attention to the design of problem situation,combine the perspective of learners,take the class as an example to explain the truth,and deeply integrate culture and mathematics teaching.
