Following the international situation’s development,in 2014,the Ministry of Education(MOE)of the People’s Republic of China issued the Opinions on Comprehensively Deepening Curriculum Reform and Implementing the Fundamental Task of Building Morality and Cultivating People,which pointed out the need to develop core literacy.The "General High School Chemistry Curriculum Standards(2017 Edition,2020 Revision)" emphasized the development of curriculum content centering around major disciplinary concepts,themeguided situational teaching content,and the implementation of core chemistry literacy.As an effective way of classroom transformation,unit teaching can integrate dispersed knowledge,strengthen the curriculum structure,and develop students’ core literacy.Therefore,this research explored the design and implementation of high school chemistry unit teaching based on core chemical literacy.The main content is as follows:Part Ⅰ traced the relevant theoretical research on the core literacy of the subject and unit teaching through literature reviewing and book reading,organized and elaborated the current research situation,defined the basic concepts involved in this research,and determined the theoretical basis required for the unit teaching design based on core chemical literacy.Part Ⅱ used a questionnaire survey to investigate the mastery of the basic theory of unit teaching and the basic process of unit teaching design by high school chemistry teachers,the actual situation of unit teaching application in daily teaching practice,and the difficulties and obstacles encountered by chemistry teachers in implementing unit teaching design and then conducted a statistical analysis of the questionnaire data,which provided a realistic base for the effective development of unit teaching design.Part Ⅲ based on the current situation of theoretical research,theoretical basis,and unit teaching implementation,this paper proposed a unit teaching design process based on the core chemical literacy discipline and selected the course content of " Atomic Structure and Periodic Law of the Chemical Elements" as the knowledge basis for unit teaching design,and designed corresponding unit teaching plans.Part Ⅳ conducted a pre-test for two parallel classes to determine the experimental and control classes.The "Atomic Structure and Periodic Law of the Chemical Elements" unit teaching plan was applied to the actual teaching process of the experimental class.The control class adopted a teaching plan with a class-hour design,and a post-test was conducted for the students of the two classes.The actual effect of unit teaching was tested by analyzing the pretest and post-test data.Part Ⅴ summarized the research results mainly from theoretical and practical aspects,affirmed the value of unit teaching in cultivating students’ core chemical literacy,pointed out the weakness in the research process from subjective and objective factors,and looked into the future of education and teaching research.
