According to the 50 th Statistical Report on China’s Internet Development,the number of Internet users in China has reached 1.051 billion,which shows that the Internet has become an indispensable part of national life.As the largest social media platform in China,Sina Weibo not only undertakes the entertainment needs of Chinese netizens,presenting the voices of people from all walks of life,but also contains the voices of a large number of mainstream media users with a public opinion-oriented role.They cover various fields and generate tens of thousands of user comment data in real time,which more truly reflects social conditions and public opinion,as well as people’s attitudes and emotions towards some hot events.For sports events,its network public opinion also plays an important role in the holding of events and the development of competitions.If online public opinion can develop in a positive direction and does not involve a crisis of public opinion,then the government or the organizer of the event can use public opinion to attract the attention of netizens,promote sports competitions,and spread the spirit of sportsmanship.But on the other hand,"violent incidents" and "violent conflicts" in sports arenas occur from time to time;Abnormal performance of athletes,unsatisfactory results,unfair referee penalties,etc.will cause dissatisfaction and negative emotions among netizens,resulting in a crisis of public opinion.Therefore,how to grasp the trend of online public opinion of sports events from massive text data,understand the development opinions of the people,avoid public opinion guidance deviation,and give full play to the government’s insight and leadership ability on hot events is what we need to study and discuss.As a large-scale sports event in China,the 14 th National Games in 2021 is a public topic watched by the whole people,and it is easy to form online public opinion.This study is different from previous research perspectives,starting from text mining,using word frequency analysis,LDA theme model,text sentiment analysis and other methods,with the help of network public opinion life cycle theory,network crawler,TF-IDF algorithm,Chinese word segmentation algorithm and other technologies,using the comment text from Sina Weibo as a data source,analyzing the network public opinion of the "14th National Games",summarizing the transmission evolution characteristics of the 14 th National Games,and tracking and analyzing the negative public opinion events generated.Further proposed corresponding coping strategies to provide reference value for the response of online public opinion of sports events in the future.This paper draws the following conclusions: firstly,the language of online public opinion text of the 14 th National Games presents an entertaining and emotional expression;Online public opinion information shows obvious group consciousness in the process of aggregation;No matter at what stage of public opinion development,cheering and encouraging athletes or sports teams has always been a topic discussed by netizens,and the actions of star athletes are also the main objects of netizens’ attention.Weibo’s comment texts are dominated by positive emotions,and its online public opinion is mainly concentrated during the official competition,although the topic has a certain degree of heat before and after the game,but the amount of participation of netizens is small,and the heat of topic discussion is not high.Secondly,the tracking and analysis of the online public opinion generated by the14 th National Games found that opinion leaders played a positive guiding role in the development of online public opinion;The coverage of star athletes provides an opportunity to promote sports events and spread the spirit of sportsmanship;The right to speak officially has obvious advantages in the dissemination of public opinion.The causes of negative online public opinion are mainly concentrated in the following aspects,improper handling of public emergencies has caused dissatisfaction among netizens;Accidental injuries caused by external factors have stimulated negative emotions among netizens.The chaos of sports "rice circles" has aroused heated discussions,and netizens have used more negative words when making remarks,providing an opportunity for the negative development of public opinion on the Internet of the 14 th Games;Crisis PR where athletes or brands fail can lead to negative online public opinion.Finally,in view of negative public opinion,the following coping strategies can be proposed,in order to provide reference value for the response of online public opinion of sports events in the future.First,the official media should seize the opportunity to provide positive guidance to negative online public opinion,and second,the official and netizens’ opinions should form a benign communication to promote the formation of rational thinking among netizens.Third,athletes or brands carry out effective crisis public relations.Fourth,official departments should establish a public opinion monitoring mechanism.Fifth,improve relevant laws and regulations,increase monitoring,and build a good online public opinion environment.
