| In recent years, with the acceleration of global integration and the continuous opening up to the outside world, the scale of foreign investment utilised in China has been expanding. The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region is a key region in the country’s economic development, bearing the burden of promoting the economic development of the northern region, and will also drive the development of other regions, while having a larger scale of FDI.As China’s economy is currently in a period of quality rather than quantity, employment,as the most basic support for the economy, should be more focused on quality development, and it becomes a real issue to explore whether FDI in the BeijingTianjin-Hebei region affects the quality of employment. On the 9th anniversary of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Cooperative Development Strategy,it is important to investigate the problems in FDI and employment quality in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region,to study the impact of FDI on employment quality in the region, and to make policy recommendations, which will help China to formulate foreign investment policies to promote high-quality employment development, and will be of great theoretical and practical value in solving the employment problem under the new normal and promoting the coordinated economic and social development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. It is of great theoretical and practical value. This paper compares the domestic and international literature, then deduces the pathways through which FDI affects employment quality, and elaborates on the mechanism of FDI’s impact on employment quality in terms of both its facilitating and inhibiting effects on employment quality. This paper collects relevant data from 1996 to2020 in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, and uses graphs and charts to visually conduct quantitative research on the current situation of FDI and employment in the BeijingTianjin-Hebei region.Among them,in order to reflect the connotation of employment quality scientifically and objectively, this paper constructs an employment quality evaluation system and uses the entropy value method to measure it.In the empirical study, the employment quality index is used to measure the employment quality, and the interaction term between FDI and industrial structure level is introduced to investigate whether there is a moderating effect of industrial structure level on the influence of FDI on employment quality. As there may be differences in the extent of the impact of FDI on employment quality in different regions,a heterogeneous study is conducted by region.By constructing an econometric model for empirical analysis, the findings show that the inflow of FDI has a catalytic effect on employment quality in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, and by introducing an interaction term between FDI and industrial structure level,it is concluded that improving industrial structure level will positively increase the degree to which FDI improves employment quality. In the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region,FDI inflows have an "N-shaped" non-linear effect on employment quality,i.e.as FDI inflows increase, the contribution of FDI to employment quality tends to increase, then decrease, and then increase again, but in general contributes to employment quality improvement. The group regression study concludes that there are regional differences in the impact of FDI inflows on employment quality in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, with different degrees of impact in different regions. Finally, based on the research results and taking into account the real situation, corresponding suggestions are made on how to better use FDI to promote high levels of employment quality in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. |
