This article discusses the importance of labor education in elementary schools and how it is currently lacking in China’s basic education system. Many parents prioritize their children’s academic achievements and overlook the development of their child’s labor skills and consciousness.Although labor was established as an independent subject in September 2022,some schools still do not implement labor education. Therefore, this study analyzes the current situation of labor education in schools, factors influencing labor education, family labor education, and factors affecting primary school students’ labor literacy to promote the implementation of labor education in elementary schools.Based on surveys conducted with teachers and parents in Zhangjiakou, the study applies a three-stage sampling method to analyze the relationship between various variables.Descriptive statistical analysis is used to evaluate the basic situation of labor education in schools, teacher awareness of labor education, parental characteristics of labor education, and student labor literacy.Bayesian structural equation models and Smith policy execution process models are used to analyze factors influencing the implementation of labor education in schools based on data from the teacher survey. The TOPSIS entropy method, decision trees, and logistic regression are used to assess and analyze the factors affecting primary school students’ labor literacy based on data from parent surveys using interactive decision-making theory. Finally, association rule analysis is used to explore parental preferences for labor education courses, and LDA topic models are used to categorize and summarize suggestions made by teachers and parents. The research results indicate that:(1)The scope of labor education courses is limited, and the course settings are single.Although labor was established as an independent subject in September 2022,the winter teaching mode shifted to online for most schools, which affected the implementation of labor courses.(2)Some teachers do not give enough attention to labor education and ignore its integration into other subjects.(3)Parents value labor education less than teachers and prioritize academic achievement.(4)Environmental factors, target groups, and ideal policies have a direct positive impact on the implementation of labor education in schools.Top-down policies and economic support are needed to promote labor education, and more emphasis should be placed on cultivating primary school students’ interest in labor.(5)Teachers and parents have different understandings of students’ labor literacy, and gender, grade level, evaluation methods, and frequency of doing household chores significantly affect students’ labor literacy.(6)The development of labor education requires effort from schools, families, and society. Finally, the article proposes feasible suggestions based on the research findings.
