Since the 18 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China(CPC),"building morality and cultivating people" has been regarded as the fundamental task of the Party and the country’s education.It is necessary to train socialist builders and successors with all-round development of morality,intelligence,physique,beauty and labor.As an important part of national education,basic education bears the great mission of cultivating talents for the country.It is imperative to implement the fundamental task of "establishing morality and cultivating talents" in basic education.With the release of the 2017 curriculum standard,each discipline has determined its own core discipline quality,and also put forward guiding suggestions for later textbook compilation and curriculum implementation.In recent years,the research on core discipline literacy at home and abroad has become increasingly mature,and the content and system of Chinese students’ geographic core literacy have also gradually improved.As the external manifestation of geographical comprehensive thinking quality,the cultivation and research of comprehensive thinking ability is also in full swing.This paper takes project-based learning as the training strategy,through targeted teaching design,to carry out research on the training of senior high school students’ comprehensive geographical thinking ability.In addition to improving senior high school students’ comprehensive thinking ability in geography,this paper is also committed to improving teachers’ teaching research level and promoting geography teaching research.This paper summarizes the research status of geographical comprehensive thinking ability and project-based learning at home and abroad by consulting literature.At present,the cultivation of geographical comprehensive thinking ability mainly focuses on mind mapping and situational teaching,while the research on the cultivation strategy of project-based learning is less.Then,this paper takes Xiji Senior High School in Ningxia as the research object,and analyzes the current situation and reasons of the students’ comprehensive geographical thinking ability through questionnaires and interviews.Then,according to the current situation and reasons of the students’ comprehensive thinking ability of geography in the school,the targeted teaching design and teaching implementation are carried out.Finally,we use the case analysis method and classroom observation method to study the project-based learning on the training of senior high school students’ comprehensive geographical thinking ability,and analyze the effect of the training results.The main research conclusions are as follows:(1)The overall level of geographical thinking ability of senior high school students in the school needs to be further improved.Among them,the senior high school students’ comprehensive geographical thinking ability is better in the element dimension,but not in the time dimension and local dimension.(2)The poor performance of the senior high school students’ comprehensive geographical thinking ability is mainly reflected in the following aspects: incomplete attribution in the element dimension,no distinction between primary and secondary,and inappropriate answers;It is impossible to analyze the merger of time and space in the dimension of time and space;On the local dimension,it is inaccurate to grasp the size scale,and the basic knowledge of regional geography is insufficient.The main reasons for the low level of geographical comprehensive thinking ability of senior high school students in this school are poor basic knowledge,low learning efficiency and insufficient basic ability.(3)In this paper,by setting up a controlled experiment and unified standard evaluation,it is concluded that project-based learning has an obvious effect on the cultivation of senior high school students’ comprehensive geographical thinking ability.In a word,project-based learning can effectively improve senior high school students’ comprehensive geographical thinking ability,and can also cultivate students’ excellent quality of unity and cooperation,innovation and excellence,so as to achieve the fundamental task of "building morality and cultivating people".
