A Case Study Of Employment Intervention For People With Disabilities From The Perspective Of Strengths

People with disabilities are a special group in society.Due to their functional deficiencies,lack of problem-solving skills and lack of language skills,they encounter many difficulties in the socialization process.This,coupled with the stigmatization of the disabled community in China since ancient times and their poor sense of identity in the process of social integration,has made it difficult for the disabled community to achieve their own development in the socialization process and to be marginalized in the society.It seems that such a role label and social culture have become an obstacle to the social integration of people with disabilities.Vocational rehabilitation,as the most important part of the social integration of people with disabilities,can help them realize their potential and unify their social and personal values.Therefore,it is urgent and necessary to conduct research on the employment of people with disabilities.This study analyzes the needs of people with disabilities in employment at different levels by conducting a site visit to the L institution in Dalian,semi-structured interviews with the staff of the institution,and a questionnaire survey of the group of people with disabilities in the institution.A total of three persons with disabilities were selected for case intervention in the study.The practice process used the strengths perspective as a theoretical guide to deeply explore the personal strengths and environmental resources of people with disabilities.The social work service under the strengths perspective helped the three disabled clients to develop their own strengths,enhance their own resilience,effectively use the resources in the environment,and strengthen the support of the family system.Finally,by connecting various social resources such as L agencies,the service recipients were helped to successfully take up employment.The study found that the solution to the employment needs and problems of people with disabilities requires the joint efforts of many parties to strengthen the rehabilitation education of people with disabilities,to develop "inclusive education",and to meet the diverse needs of people with disabilities themselves.At the same time,the establishment of support systems for families of disabled people and the effective linkage of social resources should be enhanced to provide systematic assistance for the employment of disabled people.In addition,the level of resilience of people with disabilities is low,and the vocational rehabilitation stage of people with disabilities can stimulate internal and external potential and resources from the perspective of strengths.Most importantly,employment for people with disabilities is the most effective way to promote social integration,enhance their self-efficacy,increase their self-confidence and sense of accomplishment,and promote better development of the disabled community.
