| The sense of belonging is a sense of dependence and trust on the surroundings and environment that people are in.Hence, the formation of it depends on the people, things and environment where they are located, which is gradually formed. As a group entering social life for the first time, the children in bottom class of the kindergarten are faced with unfamiliar kindergarten environment, unfamiliar teachers and peers, therefore it is particularly important for them to establish a sense of belonging. This study explored the methods and approaches for the cultivation of these children’s sense of belonging by conducting three rounds of action research with theme activities as the carrier. This research includes three parts: the early preparation, the middle implementation and the late reflection of action research. At the preparation stage,a group of 28 preschool children in the same bottom class in a kindergarten,Hangzhou, were chosen as the research object, based on the requirements of the research,H,a colleague, was chosen as the research collaborator, with whom the prior preparations such as interviews and data study to the theme activities were done. After the measurement tools and data coding were defined,a two-week preliminary observation was conducted, and the children’s cognition of belonging, their emotion and behaviour were recorded respectively. Then, the status of the sense of belonging of the children in the bottom class was analyzed and described by SPSS2.0,and the theme activities were modified based on this.Through the primary observation of those bottom class children, the following can be found: lack of social experience as young, lack of positive interaction with teachers and peers.slow language development and weak action ability resulting from long-term living in the "satisfied" environment. As a result, some are shy, slow in action and passive leading to being reluctant in the activities. However,it’s also found that from home to kindergarten, the sense of belonging is gradually changing.bottom class children are still relatively dependent more on family at present. It’s believed that the sense of belonging of the children in the bottom class, who have just moved from the original family system to the new kindergarten and class micro system,is also slowly shifting. In the mid-term implementation of the action research, three rounds of theme activities were conducted in total. From March up to May2021,two or three theme activities were to be held every week as scheduled. After each activity,it was reflected and revised, and the implementation results of the previous activities were used as the basis for the later round of action research.One-week reflection and revision were required after completing previous round of action research. The first round of action research implemented 10 theme activities formulated by researchers, the second round 7 newly added or modified themed activities, and the third round 5modified theme activities.During the later reflection of the action research, the researcher reflected and sorted out the results of the implementation of the three rounds of thematic activities, and observed the children in the class for two weeks in the later stage.By comparing with the previous observation results, the results of the implementation effect of the thematic activities were obtained and analyzed. Finally, based on the effect of the the thematic activities, this thesis puts forward targeted methods and approaches to cultivate the sense of belonging of bottom class children: To germinate children’s collective emotion through the theme activities. To focus on interactive action to enhance children’s emotional experience. To create opportunities for children to express themselves independently and to help them participate in the activities to establish a sense of responsibility and honor for the group,o as to provide reference for children to cultivate their own sense of belonging in cognition, emotion, action and behavior. |
