Purpose:Football development has risen to a national strategy, and modern football is also developing rapidly. However, the current development of my country’s football project is not satisfactory, and the opportunity to enter the World Cup has been missed many times. The physical quality and technical and tactical ability of football players need to be improved urgently.Among them, improving football players’high-intensity activities(sprint, jump, change of direction, etc.)and repeated high-intensity activities through scientific and efficient training methods is the top priority of football physical training. Therefore, this study aimed to compare the different effects of two training methods on explosive power, sprint ability, and repeated sprint ability of elite youth soccer players through an 8-week plyometric training and repeated sprint training intervention. To provide a practical reference for the physical training of young football players. Methods:In this study,30 football players from the U17 echelon of Shanghai Port FC were selected as the research objects, and the subjects were randomly divided into:1)plyometric training group;2)repeated sprint training group).Among them, plyometric training group completed the plyometric training intervention twice a week, including training activities such as hurdle jump and deep jump;the repeated sprint training group completed the repeated sprint training intervention twice a week, including different distances and groups. After the eight-week intervention training, the explosive power(squat jump and counter movement jump),short sprint(5m,10m,and 30m sprint runs)and repeated sprint ability(repeated sprint ability best RSAbest, repeated sprints ability total time RSAtotal, repeated sprint ability fatigue index RSAFI).After the experiment,two-way repeated measures ANOVA was used to analyze the intervention effects of the two groups of different intervention programs on the above measurement indicators. If there was a significant time×group interaction effect,a simple effects analysis was performed for further analysis. If the interaction effect was not significant,a paired-samples t-test was used for intra-group comparisons before and after the intervention. Results:In the end,28 youth athletes completed the experiment and were included in the statistical analysis. The results showed that,1)Plyometric training can significantly improve the explosive power of the lower limbs of the subjects(p<0.05).The squat jump ability was significantly improved by 3.37%,and the counter movement jump ability was improved by 4.50%.Repeated sprint training had no significant effect on the explosive power of lower limbs;2)Plyometric training could significantly improve subjects’short-distance sprint ability(p<0.05).Among them, the 5-meter sprint time was reduced by 3.67%,the 10-meter sprint time was reduced by 4.37%,and the 30-meter sprint time was reduced by 3.04%.Repeated sprint training can significantly improve the 30-meter sprint ability, but the 30-meter sprint time is only reduced by1.17%;3)Plyometric training significantly improved the repeated sprint ability of the subjects(p<0.05).Among them, the time for the best performance of repeated sprints(RSAbest)was reduced by 0.85%,the total time of repeated sprints(RSAtotal)was reduced by 1.31%,and the fatigue index of repeated sprints(RSAFI)was reduced by20.14%.Repeated sprint training can significantly reduce the fatigue index of repeated sprinting ability(RSAFI),but it has no significant effect on the best performance of repeated sprinting(RSAbest)and the total time of repeated sprinting ability(RSAtotal). Conclusions:Plyometric training can improve the repeated sprinting ability of young football players, and the training effect of plyometric training is significantly better than that of repeated sprinting training. After plyometric training, the explosive power, sprinting ability and repeated sprinting ability of young football players were significantly improved, while repeated sprinting training only had a significant impact on sprinting ability and some indicators of repeated sprinting ability.
