The " General High School Biology Curriculum Standards "(2017 Edition 2020Revision)promulgated by the Ministry of Education of China clearly stated that teaching should focus on the history of biological science and the nature of science.Learning the nature of science helps to improve students ’ core literacy in biology.HPS education is a new educational paradigm that integrates the history of science,philosophy of science and sociology of science.It is an educational concept recognized by the international science education community to implement the view of the nature of science.Based on the theories of discovery learning and meaningful learning,this study uses literature research method,questionnaire survey method and experimental research method to carry out practical research on constructing students ’ view of the nature of science based on HPS teaching mode.This paper explores the effect of HPS teaching mode in improving students ’ view of the nature of science,and provides reference for high school biology teaching.Firstly,through literature research method,the research status of HPS education and the view of the nature of science at home and abroad is sorted out,and the core concepts such as ’ HPS education ’,’ HPS teaching mode ’ and ’ view of the nature of science ’ are defined,so as to summarize the theoretical basis of this study.Secondly,the questionnaire survey method was used to investigate the understanding of HPS education by high school biology teachers,the current situation of applying HPS education in the classroom and the difficulties encountered in applying HPS education,laying a foundation for the design of high school biology teaching based on HPS teaching mode.Finally,two classes in the first grade of Qingdao Y Middle School were selected as the experimental class and the control class for a semester of teaching practice.The questionnaire survey method was used to test the level of scientific essence of the students in the first two classes of teaching practice.Analyze the HPS teaching content contained in the high school biology compulsory 1 ’molecule and cell ’,select the three classes of ’ cell membrane flow mosaic model ’,’ the role and essence of enzyme ’ and ’ the principle and application of photosynthesis ’ to carry out the teaching design based on HPS teaching mode,and carry out HPS teaching practice in the experimental class,while the control class uses the traditional teaching mode to teach.After the teaching practice,the questionnaire was used again to test the level of students ’view of nature of science in the two classes.Excel and SPSS 26 software were used to analyze the average value,standard deviation and significant difference of students ’ view of nature of science in the two classes before and after the teaching practice.The study draws the following conclusions : First,HPS teaching mode can improve teachers ’ teaching and students ’ learning.Through classroom observation and analysis of the results of the teacher questionnaire,it was found that most teachers did not understand HPS education at the beginning,but after reading the relevant materials of HPS,teachers affirmed the teaching value of HPS.Compared with the traditional teaching method,HPS teaching mode is no longer a simple knowledge teaching and mechanical interaction,but with the history of science as the main line,teachers and students follow the pace of scientists to carry out interactive research.Second,HPS teaching mode can effectively improve students ’ view of nature of science.After a semester of teaching practice,an independent sample T test was conducted on the post-test questionnaire scores of the two classes.It was found that the average scores of the overall view of the nature of science and its dimensions in the experimental class were higher than those in the control class.There were significant differences in the post-test scores of the two dimensions of the nature of scientific exploration and the nature of scientific undertakings between the experimental class and the control class,and there were extremely significant differences in the dimension of the view of the nature of science.The experimental results show that compared with the traditional teaching mode,the application of HPS teaching mode in high school biology classroom can more effectively improve students ’ view of nature of science.
