Mathematical self-efficacy and its calibration affect students’ learning performance; The existing self-efficacy scale lacks pertinence;Algebraic content plays an important role in mathematics curriculum. This is the triple background of this study. Therefore, the researcher intends to compile a mathematical self-efficacy scale aimed at the algebra content of eighth grade students, understand the mathematical selfefficacy of eighth grade students and its calibration level through investigation and interview, and explore the relationship between relevant factors(gender, academic level, difficulty of questions),mathematical self-efficacy and its calibration. The relationship between mathematical self-efficacy and its calibration is also discussed. In this study, the self-compiled self-efficacy scale and test paper of algebraic content were used to investigate part of eighth grade students in Z Middle School.Through descriptive analysis, difference analysis, correlation analysis and regression analysis, the following conclusions were reached:First of all.in general, students have a higher level of mathematical self-efficacy.a smaller degree of calibration bias and deviation, and a more accurate judgment of their own ability.Secondly, there is no significant difference and significant correlation between students’ mathematical self-efficacy between different genders, but there is significant difference and significant correlation between different academic levels and difficulty problems.Thirdly, there is no significant difference and significant correlation between students’ calibration deviation and deviation degree between different genders. There are significant differences and significant correlations among different difficulty problems. The calibration deviation and the degree of deviation are significantly correlated with different academic levels. Finally, according to the above conclusions,it can be inferred that the factors affecting students’ mathematical self-efficacy and its calibration include academic level and problem difficulty. In addition, through regression analysis,it is found that students’scores can be predicted by their mathematical self-efficacy and calibration deviation.According to the current situation of mathematics self-efficacy and its calibration of eighth grade students, three suggestions are put forward to improve students’confidence in learning mathematics, help students master the correct learning methods and teach students to self-reflect.
