Geography teaching in junior high school and senior high school is a unified and inseparable whole.Geography in junior high school and senior high school have division of labor and relations with each other.However,due to the influence of local education authorities and school leaders who do not pay enough attention to geography teaching in junior high school,geography teaching in junior high school is not connected enough.Middle school geography teaching connection faces new challenge.The talents needed in the 21 st century not only need to master knowledge,but also need to have a certain thinking ability.The acquisition of highlevel thinking is not achieved overnight,but needs a progressive process.Therefore,it is of great significance to explore the path of thinking progression to promote the connection between middle and high school teaching.The research methods adopted in this study include literature research,questionnaire survey,comparative analysis and other methods.First of all,the path of connecting middle and high school is sorted out from the literature,different scholars’ interpretations of the connotation of thinking progression are summarized,and the thinking progression and connecting middle and high school are defined in combination with the research content.Secondly,during the internship,I investigated the current situation of connecting middle and high schools to understand the problems and causes of connecting geography teaching.Thirdly,compare the middle and high school geography curriculum standards and textbooks to find the corresponding connecting points.Based on the above analysis,this paper puts forward the strategy of connecting middle and high school teaching.Finally,by carrying out teaching research and testing teaching effectiveness,the paper reflects on the shortcomings and puts forward the optimization path.The main conclusions are as follows:First,the survey analysis shows that most geography teachers in senior high schools have weak awareness of teaching cohesion and lack of cohesion paths,which indicates that teachers’ awareness of teaching cohesion needs to be improved.Second,based on the comparative analysis of middle and high school curriculum standards and textbooks,as well as the development needs of teachers and students,it is feasible to connect middle and high school physical geography teaching based on thinking progression.Thirdly,based on thinking progression,physical geography teaching in junior and senior high schools should follow the following principles,namely,the principle of curriculum standard,the principle of progression and the principle of integrity.The strategies of cohesion mainly include comparative analysis of curriculum standards and teaching materials and search for cohesion points;Determine students’ thinking level through pre-test;Stratify teaching objectives;Design an advanced classroom question chain;Select appropriate teaching methods to teach;Evaluate effectively.
