Facing the background of the new curriculum reform,the subject of history puts forward higher requirements.How to help students master basic knowledge while infiltrating core literacy teaching and cultivating students’ historical thinking ability is a major challenge faced by current educators.The Chronology of Events is closely related to history teaching.It is a list that arranges historical events in chronological order,containing two elements:time and events.As a text auxiliary system of history textbook and an effective history teaching tool,it is of great benefit in integrating historical events,sorting out historical clues and cultivating the sense of time.Therefore,to use a chronology of events in the history teaching is reasonable.Teachers should fully utilize the advantages of the chronology of events and apply it to all aspects of history teaching.In this way,history class will stimulate vitality.Although the chronology of events has many advantages,observation and research have found that there are shortcomings in the current chronology of events in textbook writing and teaching application.For one thing,comparing the chronology of events in three versions of history textbooks,it is found that the type of the chronology of events compiled in the history textbooks is relatively single and even lacks some important historical events records.For another,by conducting a questionnaire survey and interviews with teachers and students,we aim to understand the use of the chronology of events in high school history teaching.There are also problems with chronology in the practice of history classroom teaching.For example,teachers and students do not fully understand the advantages of chronology,the format and application of the teacher’s timeline of major events are single and students lack relevant exercise.To solve the problems in the application of chronology in teaching,suggestions are proposed.Firstly,teachers should make full use of the chronology to cover the shortcomings in the compilation of the chronology in textbooks.Secondly,comprehensive understanding of the benefits chronology should be generated to explore that how to effectively use chronology and promote key competences teaching in history classrooms.Thirdly,broaden the application path of the chronology and apply it to different course types and various teaching links.Finally,through specific case design to present the ways in solving the problems and highlight the application effect of the chronology.
