Since the reform and opening up,the issues of agriculture, rural areas, and farmers have always been the focus of social attention and have gradually evolved into a common social phenomenon. The issue of agriculture, rural areas, and farmers has become a bottleneck that hinders China’s socio-economic development and deserves our long-term attention and attention. How to promote the sustained and stable increase of farmers’ income is of great practical significance for China to achieve comprehensive modernization of agriculture and rural areas by 2050.However,there are still many problems in rural areas of China, such as inadequate infrastructure construction and imbalanced regional development, which seriously hinder the improvement of farmers’ income levels and the process of comprehensively building a socialist modernized country.Among the many factors that affect the income of rural residents, new urbanization and human capital investment are two key factors that cannot be ignored. The report of the 18 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China proposed a "new urbanization" development path that is suitable for China’s national conditions, marking the entry of China’s urbanization into a new stage. The "2022 Key Tasks for New Urbanization and Urban Rural Integration Development" proposes to improve the quality of new urbanization and promote sustained growth of farmers’ income. As an important participant in the new urbanization, farmers can only inject internal and lasting impetus into the development of the new urbanization by improving their cultural quality and transforming the huge human resources in rural areas into high-quality human capital. In recent years, the economic development trend of Jiangsu Province has been good, and the income level of residents has been constantly moving towards new levels. However,as a developed province in the eastern coastal region, there is a significant income gap between urban and rural areas in Jiangsu Province.Whether the new urbanization and human capital investment in Jiangsu Province have effectively played their role in promoting farmers’ income, and the specific extent of their role,is an urgent issue to be studied. Therefore, this thesis selects the panel data of 13 prefecture level cities in Jiangsu Province from 2010 to 2020 to build a scientific and reasonable indicator system. With the help of panel vector autoregression(PVAR)model, this thesis uses Granger causality test, impulse response, variance decomposition and other methods to empirically analyze the impact effects of new urbanization, human capital investment and farmers’ income increase in Jiangsu Province. The research conclusions are as follows:(1)The new urbanization, human capital investment, and farmers’ income increase in Jiangsu Province interact and promote each other. Both new urbanization and human capital investment are important reasons that affect farmers’ income. The promotion effect of new urbanization and human capital investment on farmers’ income will become increasingly apparent, and human capital investment will contribute more to farmers’ income growth. The increase in farmers’ income will also in turn affect the development status of new urbanization and human capital investment.(2)Human capital investment is one of the important factors affecting new urbanization, but its impact on new urbanization has a lag.In a short period of time,it not only does not have a driving effect, but also has a certain negative impact.Only when human capital investment accumulates to a certain extent, will it have a positive effect on new urbanization.Based on the research conclusions, targeted countermeasures and suggestions are proposed to further achieve a positive interaction between new urbanization, human capital investment, and farmers’ income increase in Jiangsu Province.
