With the improvement of the requirements for extracurricular reading in the Chinese Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition)and new textbooks,many schools are actively setting up extracurricular reading guidance courses.As an important way for teachers to guide students in extracurricular reading,extracurricular reading instruction courses not only bear the heavy responsibility of cultivating students’ reading ability and reading habits,but also bear the important mission of communicating in-class reading and extracurricular reading.In the teaching class of extracurricular reading guidance course,students can expand their reading range,contact more classic reading books,enrich reading experience and improve reading taste.However,the students in the third grade of primary school are in the key stage of primary education.Whether they can master scientific and effective reading methods under the guidance of teachers and cultivate strong interest in reading will affect their extracurricular reading in the next stage.This paper takes the teachers and students of H primary school in F City as the research object,adopts classroom observation method and interview method to investigate the teachers and students of this school.In order to find out the possible problems and causes in the teaching of extracurricular reading instruction.In terms of classroom observation,six Chinese teachers in the third learning section were selected as classroom observation objects.Through the classroom observation scale,classroom observation and data collection were carried out from three dimensions: student learning,course nature and teacher teaching.In the aspect of teacher interview,six teachers were interviewed from three dimensions,namely,teachers’ cognition degree,teaching attitude and teaching effect of extracurricular reading guidance class.In the aspect of student interview,six students were also interviewed based on three dimensions of students’ fondness for extracurricular reading instruction.Through observation and interview,it is found that teachers in this school have the following problems when conducting extracurricular reading guidance classes:The classroom activities of extracurricular reading guidance classes are detached from students’ actual situations,there being difficulties in connecting in class and extracurricular reading,and a lack of individual guidance in extracurricular reading guidance class teaching,and the evaluation system of extracurricular reading guidance classes needs to be improved.Through analysis,the following reasons can be identified: Teachers lack detailed analysis of students’ situations before class,it is difficult to for teachers grasp the relationship between reading in and out of class,and teachers lack experience and ability to deal with group and individual needs,and lack awareness and methods of scientific evaluation.Based on the above analysis,the following solutions are put forward proposed: Teacher should strengthen the analysis of students’ learning situation in multiple ways,innovate the connection between in-class reading and extracurricular reading,balance the relationship between group guidance and individual guidance,and establish a diversified evaluation system for extracurricular reading guidance course.
