With the increasingly widespread application of statistics and probability in social and economic development,their importance and necessity have become increasingly prominent.Accordingly,scholars in China have raised their attention to the knowledge of statistics and probability and included it in primary and secondary school textbooks.The current teaching situation of statistics and probability is absolutely not optimistic,as some teachers take the entrance exams as their value orientation,and boast about quality education,but actually they are engaged in exam-oriented education,directly instilling basic concepts and formulas into students,ignoring the cultivation of data concepts and the ability to solve practical problems.Therefore,this study will attempt to investigate the current teaching situation of statistics and probability teaching in junior secondary schools based on the PBL teaching mode,deeply analyse the reasons behind the teaching dilemma,and try to explore effective teaching strategies.This paper combs the origin and development,connotation and basic elements of PBL teaching mode through literature review,outlines the research status of statistics and probability,and clarifies the feasibility and significance of applying the PBL teaching model to statistics and probability teaching.Based on PBL teaching mode,we conduct analysis of the current teaching of statistics and probability in the way of using questionnaire survey,case analysis,and interview methods,then find the following three problems.From the perspective of problem situation construction:(1)problems are not reasonable(2)the problem exploration space is narrow;From the perspective of teacher classroom development:(1)group cooperation is not comprehensive(2)inadequate classroom learning resources(3)students show insufficient results;From the perspective of student-centered learning:(1)the students’ concept of data is not strong(2)the students’ consciousness of self-regulated learning is insufficient.According to the problem we have found,feasible teaching suggestions are made:(1)In order to improve teachers’ teaching level,teachers should learn through multiple channels,carry out deep lesson preparation,grasp the development of knowledge through comparative study of the standards,prepare and reflect on lessons repeatedly.(2)In order to develop students’ concepts of data,teachers should construct realistic problem situations so that students can experience the whole process of statistical activities.(3)To motivate students to participate in classroom activities,teachers should enrich the forms of student participation and emphasize students’ main role,including setting up heterogeneous groups to guide students in cooperative learning;setting up classroom white space to develop students’meta-cognitive skills;and attaching importance to process evaluation to make the concept of data deeply rooted in people’s minds.(4)Information technology assists teaching and learning,highlighting the significance of statistics. |
