Research On The Core Competencies Of Community Social Workers

With the development of specialization and professionalization of social work,the needs of the government,society and the public for social work are increasing day by day.The cultivation of social workers ’ability,the professional development of social work and the cultivation of talents are paid more and more attention.Social work presents a " sunrise "trend.As one of the multi-subject forces of community governance,social work mainly enters the community service field through government purchase of services,which puts forward requirements for the ability of community social workers.However,there is a huge pressure behind the "sunrise ",especially the ability of social workers,which is being questioned and challenged.In order to truly professionalize and professionalize social work,it is necessary to enhance the core competence of social workers.In the process of practice,the core competence of community social workers also faces many challenges.Based on the theory of competency,this study takes the practice of X community social work service projects as examples,and uses the method of participatory observation and in-depth interview to obtain first-hand information.Taking community social workers,street and community workers and residents as interviewees,this paper summarizes and summarizes the core competence elements that community social workers should possess,and analyzes the factors that affect the core competence,and then explores the path to effectively promote the core competence of community social workers.Through case studies,it is found that the core competencies required by community social workers include three dimensions:professional knowledge,professional skills and professional values.The professional knowledge dimension includes continuous learning ability and community assessment ability;the professional skill dimension includes the service ability rooted in the community and the project management and implementation ability of the whole process;the dimension of professional values includes strong professional values and excellent professional ethics.This study summarizes the factors that affect the core competence into four aspects:individual social workers,social work institutions,street communities and government.In view of the above factors,this paper proposes to improve the core competence of community social workers from the four paths of community social workers ’ own support system,social work organization education and management system,street community concept level and government related policies.
