In recent years,with the increase of female education population in the world,the self-awareness of female pursuit of success and the increase of investment in basic education in China,the number of female school principals in middle schools has increased.However,the gender imbalance in the leadership of middle schools is still serious.The female principals lack the right to speak at the top,the promotion path is not smooth,and the cultivation of the professional knowledge theory of female principals’ leadership and the construction of the training system are lacking.However,there are also some typical examples of female administrators being promoted to female principals,and their successful leadership experience is also very representative.To study and summarize the leadership characteristics and management experience of female principals in successful middle schools is of great theoretical and practical significance for improving the social recognition and social status of female principals in middle schools,improving the predicament of female leadership development and promoting the development of basic education.This paper aims to study the formation and development of female principals’ leadership in middle schools.Based on the transformational leadership theory,this paper firstly combs the relevant literatures at home and abroad by literature research and case study.Secondly,choosing a relatively typical middle school headmistress face-to-face in-depth interviews,comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the principal,access to reliable information,as the research sample,from "virtue","vision incentive","charisma","personalized care" four aspects to analyze its leadership development of live in more detail.Finally,it summarizes the disadvantages of female middle school principals in the process of leadership and career development,and puts forward targeted suggestions for improvement,in order to provide support for promoting female leadership development.Through the case study,the following conclusions are drawn:1.The formation and development of the leadership of middle school female principals are influenced by their own personalities,growth environment,work experience,social culture and other aspects,which is a long-term comprehensive development process.2.Female principals of middle schools not only possess the flexible temperament peculiar to females,but also possess the leadership qualities of decisiveness,calmness and broad-minded which are commonly believed to be reserved for males.They are as good as male principals in leading school development,and even surpass male principals in their achievements.3.Although the female principal of middle school possesses excellent leadership skills,she is criticized and questioned by the society for her mother’s responsibility due to the conflicts between family,career and social roles.4.Compared with male principals,female principals’ leadership is more difficult,and they suffer from more pressures and obstacles from different aspects.In order to truly promote the development of female principals in social schools and promote social equity,they need the support of society and family and the establishment of personal motivation for achievement.
