The Internet brings convenience to students’ learning, but also brings some negative effects to students who are in the period of physical and mental development. As educational researchers,we should actively explore ways to educate and intervene in rural children’s pathological Internet use.Developing Internet literacy education courses, paying attention to rural children’s Internet use,and correctly guiding and intervening children with pathological Internet use are important guarantees for promoting students’ physical and mental health.Combining the research viewpoints of relevant Chinese and foreign education researchers, this study systematically and comprehensively defines the concepts of Internet children, pathological Internet use,and Internet literacy education. On this basis, the current situation of pathological Internet use and mental health of students in the school was mastered through questionnaires and interviews, and combined with the results of the current situation,an attribution analysis was carried out on the problem of pathological Internet use among rural netizens. On this basis, the author selects the students of the two classes of the junior high school as the research objects,of which Grade 2 class 2 are the experimental classes for this group and case intervention research.Grade 3 class 4 serve as the control class. The author entered the class to carry out intervention research, aiming to explore educational countermeasures to prevent and treat pathological Internet use in rural junior high schools through educational intervention research. The study found that the problem of pathological Internet use in rural junior high schools is serious, and the problem of long-term Internet access is common. After analyzing the pathological Internet usage of rural netizens,we found that the longer the netizens spend online, the greater the possibility of pathological Internet use.In this study of differences in parental attitudes,we found that children with less parental involvement with their children’s Internet access were more likely to be addicted to the Internet and had higher mental health scores. After analyzing the mental health status of rural internet children,in the research on gender differences,we found that the mental health level of boys is generally higher than that of girls. In the study of differences in the amount of time spent online,we found that the longer the time spent online by rural netizens, the lower the level of mental health. In the study of differences in parental attitudes,we found that the less involved parents were when their children were online, the worse the children’s mental health. In addition, when interviewing students,we learned that the existing Internet literacy education curriculum is not enough to guide students to correctly understand and use the Internet.By analyzing the data after the intervention,we found that group education intervention can significantly improve the pathological Internet use and mental health of students in the experimental class.According to the survey results,it is found that the current pathological Internet use problems and mental health problems of rural netizens mainly include: students’ weak self-control ability, students’ time concept and awareness of rules need to be strengthened, and students’ needs are not met.Parents have inaccurate cognition of the Internet, schools’ Internet literacy education and curriculum system are not perfect, etc. The author suggests that the pathological Internet use of rural netizens requires the participation of individuals, families, schools and society, and the cooperation of all subjects to establish a linkage mechanism to comprehensively promote the healthy development of netizens. At the individual level,it is necessary to improve students’ self-control and willpower, encourage students to develop their interests and hobbies, carry out red education for students, cultivate students’ correct values, and promote the transformation of rural Internet children’s awareness and behavior. In terms of families, parents should correct their misunderstandings about the Internet, correctly participate in and guide their children to use the Internet, and conduct family therapy for families who are not able to solve problems themselves. In terms of schools, schools can develop and set up network literacy courses. In the course development and implementation, attention should be paid to the fact that the course content should be linked to real life, the use of appropriate teaching models, the improvement of teachers’ network literacy levels, and the rational use of mental health counseling rooms. In terms of society, the government should actively study and implement policies, support and encourage Internet companies that are beneficial to young people’s Internet access, establish rural cultural infrastructure, and enrich the spiritual and cultural life of rural Internet children.
