In current mobile media research, scenarios mainly refer to the personalized services provided to users and the application contexts they generate. They mostly consider users as consumers from a commercial perspective, obscuring the changes in people’s daily communication situation during the use of mobile media and ignoring their micro-sociological impact at the scenario level,i.e.,the information communication situation they construct and the changes in people’s interaction habits and image management practices that such contexts induce. With the goal of reviving the Goffman tradition of communication context research and applying it to the field of mobile media, this dissertation chooses to enter the typical collective interaction space of student dormitories and conducts field research to experience and observe the changes in communication situation brought about by students’ use of mobile media in group dormitories,as well as the communication interactions and image management behaviors that occur therein.interactions and behavior management-related interpretations,in an attempt to grasp the penetration and expansion of mobile media into the physical communication situation of the student dormitory and its sociological significance. The survey found that, unlike television, which is a relatively single-functional medium that constructs information scenarios and influences people’s communication patterns, mobile media such as cell phones,as portable and integrated media, are embedded in people’s daily communication life in a comprehensive and three-dimensional way, making the communication situation in dormitories richer and more diverse.Specifically,in the physical space of a group dormitory, the physical boundaries of separation form the front and back areas of interaction between members, and this division defines specific and subtle patterns of interaction. The information communication space constructed and created by mobile media has changed the tangible division of the physical space and created new communication situation, such as private situation that exclude physical presence,semi-private situation that leak online information, and small-group online micro-situation.Information and physical communication situation are both relatively independent and deeply intertwined,as members of virtual communication respond to the communication needs of the collective space they are in,while the existence of the collective space also influences to some extent the content and manner of virtual communication among members, switching between them at any time and interpenetrating each other. With the change of information context brought about by mobile media, members’ interaction habits have changed: members will decide whether and how to switch between two communication situation based on the closeness of their relationships;other members of the dormitory need to coordinate and take care of each other’s decency when members communicate with friends and relatives from other places online;members of the dormitory often cooperate with each other in the face of the virtual presence and create a good communication The dormitory members often cooperate with each other to create a good communication atmosphere. The core of interpersonal relationship building in both communication situation is to present an image that is recognized by others, and the ability to focus on the unity of personal and public interests, respect for the target audience, and the maintenance of harmonious dormitory relationships are common criteria for evaluating the appropriateness of members’ communication behavior and the effectiveness of image management.Behavior that violates the order of interaction is considered inappropriate and inappropriate. |
