In recent years,my country’s population structure has undergone major changes. These changes are prominently manifested in the aggravation of population aging, the miniaturization of family size, and the continuous decline of family marriage and childbearing rates.Chinese society has gradually entered a development stage of "low birth rate and low death rate".According to data from the sixth census,my country’s population aged 60 and above accounts for 13.26% of the total population, far exceeding the 7% aging standard set by the United Nations.Due to the long-term implementation of the family planning policy in my country and the general improvement of population education quality, people’s concept of fertility has undergone great changes.Traditional ideas such as "raising children to prevent old age" no longer dominate the main purpose of families to have children. With the increase in cost, the fertility rate of Chinese families continues to decline, showing the demographic characteristics of "low birthrate".The emergence of the problem of low birthrate and aging has changed the family population structure from the micro level. The family structure in my country tends to be small and core. The structure of the inverted triangle is more obvious. The average family size is 3.25 people. In response to this series of changes, the country has implemented an open two-child policy, which will have a heavy impact on my country’s population structure. The development of the insurance market is naturally inseparable from the analysis and research of the population structure.Affected by the new crown epidemic in 2020,my country’s commercial health insurance market has begun to attract the attention of the people. The country has also begun to pay attention to the necessity of health insurance participating in people’s lives, and has implemented the "Healthy China" development strategy. The State Council and the China Banking Insurance Regulatory Commission also issued several laws, regulations and administrative measures to promote the development of the health insurance market. However, due to the late start and immature development of China’s health insurance market, the national insurance participation rate is still low,and the insurance density and insurance depth of health insurance lag far behind the international market. As an important supplement to social insurance, commercial health insurance should become an important tool for people to avoid medical risks and solve the conflicting situation that people "have no money for medical treatment".Therefore, this thesis studies the demand and purchase intention of commercial health insurance from the basic perspective of family population structure, focusing on the influence of family gender structure, family age structure and family cultural structure on the purchase intention of family commercial health insurance.practical and theoretical significance. This thesis is aimed to use empirical research on analyzing the factors which have significant impact on the increment of domestic commercial health insurance purchase.Combining with previous literatures’ methods and perspectives, this thesis attempts to obtain the conclusion of that the structure of household population could affect the increment of premium by adding survey indicators of “premium income”、“compensation expenditure”、“product structure”and etc.to prove and support our point. The empirical analysis which set in this thesis is based on the 2017 database of the Household Finance Survey(CHFS)of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, and finally obtain27,655 samples through sample screening and deletion, and use the Probit model for regression. The results indicate that the structure of household population surely has a significant impact on the purchase of commercial health insurance, and our variables developed the former literatures’ point as well.In addition, this thesis also conducts heterogeneity analysis based on urban and rural areas, age and marital status to further explore the impact of family demographics on the willingness to purchase commercial health insurance. Finally,it puts forward development suggestions for the development of my country’s commercial health insurance market.Through the study, there are the following conclusions drawn about this thesis: First, the family gender structure has a certain role in promoting the family to make commercial health insurance purchase decisions, and its impact is positive and significant.Second, the family age structure of the family child support ratio and family old-age support ratio to the commercial health insurance purchase of the correlation is the opposite direction, the increase in the number of children in the family can increase the probability of purchasing commercial health insurance,on the contrary, the higher the proportion of the elderly population, the lower the family’s commercial health insurance coverage rate.3.The higher the level of education of the head of household, the higher the purchase rate of family commercial health insurance, and the positive and significant influence of this variable on the explanatory variable.
