A Study On Marriage And Love Views Of Youth In Empty-shell Family From The Perspective Of Life Course

The view towards marriage and love is one of the significant factors affecting the individual’s love status,as well as marriage.It is for the reason that the view an individual holds will lead to his or her behaviors in the process of marriage and love.The positive view can promote the marriage and love,on the contrary,the negative one hinders them.Therefore,from the perspective of life course theory,this paper explores what kind of view of marriage and love formed by young adults who have grown up in empty-shell family.Adopting the semi-structured interview method in qualitative research,this paper selects three representative subjects grown up in empty-shell family for in-depth interviews.From the perspective of life course theory,this paper outlines their life tracks and clarifies the views of marriage and love they formed from their family backgrounds and social interactions.Through the longitudinal analysis of life events,the paper is to find out the turning point and development trend of the view towards marriage and love,and to work out which events and factors affect these subjects’ views.Through interviews,the important life events of the three subjects are introduced in detail.This paper focuses on analyzing the similarities and differences of the young’s views on marriage and love in empty-shell family,and explores the cumulative effect of life events on their views.The influencing factors of individual’s view are analyzed on the four principles of life course theory,"historical time and place","timing in lives states","linked lives" and "human agency".The study finds that the social and family environment,of which the latter has the most lasting and profound one,have a continuous impact on the individual’s view of marriage and love.The important people and self-selection in individual’s growth play a crucial role in the development of the view towards marriage and love.
