Quadratic inequality in one variable is the knowledge of the second section of the third chapter of the compulsory fifth year of senior high school mathematics.Which is the key points of senior high school mathematics learning, which is not only an extension of the mathematical content learned in junior high school, but also consolidation and improvement of the content of functions, sequence and sets learned in senior high school, which has the role of carrying forward and carrying forward in high school mathematics learning. The curriculum standards for mathematics in general senior high school(2017edition): to experience the process of abstracting quadratic inequalities in one variable from real situations,to understand their practical significance;can be solved with the help of the image of the quadratic function, and use the set to represent the solution set,to understand the relationship between the "three quadratic".However,in teaching, students were found to make repeated errors in quadratic inequalities in one variable. It is hoped that the thesis will help students reduce their problem solving errors, both in terms of teaching and learning. There were 242 students and some mathematics teachers in the thesis were selected as the research objects, which from a normal high school in Tianshui City,Gansu Province. In the thesis, through the methods of literature analysis, obtained test paper, questionnaire and interview. This thesis examines three main questions: What are the main types of errors made by students in the process of solving quadratic inequalities in one variable? What are the causes of these types of errors? How can the quality of students’ solutions in quadratic inequalities in one variable be improved?According to the results of the survey,The following four types of student errors were identified: intellectual errors, mental errors, logical errors and strategic errors;the factors influencing these error types are: students’ lack of basic knowledge, weakness in mathematical operations, low interest in learning mathematics, the solidification of students’ thinking, the bad study habits of students in dealing with wrong questions and the differences in teachers’ teaching methods. In response to the types of errors and the causes of errors that emerged from the survey, this research for teachers and students respectively put forward the following countermeasures: Teachers can improve their own teaching methods and abilities, pay attention to the reasonable use of students’ error resources;students can develop good habits of problem solving and pay attention to improving arithmetic skills, strengthening logical thinking, enhancing self-confidence and classifying and labelling errors in learning. It is hoped that this thesis will help students to improve the quality of their solutions in quadratic inequalities in one variable and reduce the error rate in their solutions.
