China is one of the four ancient civilizations,and its long history has accumulated a vast sea of classics.These classics are the carrier of Chinese culture and inherit the vicissitudes of Chinese civilization.With the passage of time,about one-third of ancient books in our country have fallen into the dilemma of damage and aging,and it is urgent to strengthen the conservation of ancient books.The huge quantity and complex types of ancient books in our country,coupled with their non-renewable characteristics,determine that the personnel engaged in the conservation of ancient books must not be ordinary book repairers,and destructive conservation will bring great harm to ancient books.At present,although our country has made certain achievements in the conservation of ancient books,there is still room for further improvement.The United States is one of the countries that started the education of ancient books conservation earlier.Comparing and summarizing the training experience of ancient book conservation talents in China and the United States is conducive to promoting the training process of ancient book conservation talents in our country.Since colleges and universities have gradually overcome the limitation of cultivating ancient book conservation talents based on experience,they have become the mainstream institutions for cultivating ancient book conservation talents.This paper takes the universities in China and the United States that offer ancient book conservation majors as the research object,and analyzes the differences in the cultivation of ancient books conservation talents between China and the United States.The article firstly summarizes the research background and current situation of the cultivation of ancient book conservation talents in our country,and clarifies the significance and innovation of the topic of this article.Secondly,this paper analyzes the historical origin of the cultivation of ancient books conservation talents in China and the United States.From the macro level again,compare the training institutions and training levels of ancient book conservation talents in Chinese and American universities,Then,three representative colleges and universities in China and the United States were selected to compare and analyze the differences in the training programs of ancient book conservation majors,the scale and method of recruitment,teachers,and student employment flow from the micro level,deeply reveal the characteristics of the cultivation of ancient book conservation talents in Chinese and American universities.Finally,through the comparison,the shortcomings in the training process of ancient book conservation talents in colleges and universities in our country are obtained,and specific development paths are proposed.The research conclusions are as follows: First,the number of colleges and universities that cultivate ancient book conservation talents is increasing,and the training level system has been basically established,which can deliver talents of different levels to the society.However,colleges and universities have different opinions on the ownership of ancient book conservation majors,and the training level of ancient book conservation talents is relatively low.Second,in the process of cultivating ancient book conservation talents,colleges and universities in our country have gradually formed their own training programs,and the training work is more standardized and scientific,but its training objectives,curriculum settings,recruitment content and methods,and teacher allocation still need to be further improved.Third,Chinese colleges and universities should give full play to their special advantages in the cultivation of ancient book conservation talents,unify the subject ownership of ancient book conservation majors,improve the training level of ancient book conservation talents,clarify the training objectives of ancient book conservation talents,speed up the reform of the ancient book conservation curriculum system,improve the content and method of recruiting ancient book conservation talents,introduce professional teachers with multi-disciplinary backgrounds,strengthen cooperation and exchanges in the cultivation of ancient book conservation talents,and promote the development of ancient book conservation education.
