Historical materials are an important basis for high school students to know and learn history.The current History Curriculum Standards for General High Schools puts forward the requirements for cultivating the core literacy of history,among which the “historical evidence”literacy clarifies the requirements of students’ ability to use and analyze historical materials at different levels.The teaching of historical materials has been widely valued in the history teaching of high schools,accompanied by the selection of historical materials has become an important support of historical materials teaching.However,it is regrettable that due to various reasons,the selection of English historical materials in world history teaching in senior high school has not been paid enough attention.Through the review of relevant academic research results in recent years,it can be seen that the few research results mostly focus on the application of English historical materials.Different from the existing massive Chinese historical materials available for selection,the premise to solve the problem of using English historical materials is to find and select English historical materials,especially with the improvement of Chinese internationalization level,teachers need to cultivate students’ open international consciousness through history teaching in senior high schools,therefore,it is more realistic and urgent to use English historical materials to carry out world history teaching in senior high school.It is the original intention of this paper to provide optional English historical materials for high school history teachers and to provide reference for the application of English historical materials in high school history teaching.The new high school history textbook “Outline of Chinese and Foreign History(II)” is the content of world history teaching.The value of selection and application of English historical materials is mainly reflected in the teaching of world history.Therefore,this paper takes“Outline of Chinese and Foreign History(II)” as an example.First of all,through sorting out the existing relevant research results in the academic field,displaying the field distribution of the research results,which highlights the innovation of this paper in the aspect of research perspective and content.Secondly,it illustrates the necessity of English historical materials teaching from three aspects: cultivating the core literacy of history subject of senior high school students and international consciousness and making up for the relative lack of historical materials in world history teaching.This paper discusses the feasibility of English historical materials teaching from two aspects: the abundance of English historical materials resources and the improvement of the English level of teachers and students.Again,in order to facilitate high school history teachers to collect English historical materials,the paper recommends three channels to collect English historical materials;at the same time,in order to facilitate high school history teachers to select and use English historical materials,the paper presents various English historical materials collected during the research process in the form of tables.After that,the paper emphasizes the principles of scientific,relevance,typicality and fitness in the selection of English historical materials,and discusses the selection strategies of English historical materials through teaching cases from the three links of pre-class,in-class and after-class.Finally,in order to test the selection effect of English historical materials,based on the research data,the paper analyzes the role of English historical materials in promoting the development of teachers and students and improving teaching and other aspects,as well as the existing problems.It can be seen from the study: English historical materials as one of the important media of teaching world history knowledge,because it can provide original historical materials for high school students,English historical materials can play a unique role in the world history teaching and deepen students’ understanding of the teaching content.Finally,it achieves the purpose of cultivating students’ historical evidence literacy and improving teaching effect.
