Between 2010 and 2016,China Australia relations maintained a relatively friendly state, with close economic and trade exchanges between the two countries.China Australia established a comprehensive strategic partnership and signed a free trade agreement, maintaining good development both politically and economically. After 2016,the negative events in the relationship between China and Australia increased, sharply declined and continued to deteriorate, and the economic and trade relations between the two countries also fell into a tense situation. The first part of this article will describe the specific changes in politics, economy, and security between China and Australia, and analyze the manifestations of the deterioration of the relationship between the two countries.Australia’s international status as a medium-sized power in the international community is highly dependent on what it considers to be a "rule based international order".Therefore,Australia is highly concerned about the stability and development direction of the international order. The second part of this article will elaborate on Australia’s understanding of the "rule-based international order" from the "Defense White Paper" released by Australia, and select five aspects: open markets, international institutions and multilateral cooperation, collective defense, democracy and human rights, and climate change issues to specifically elaborate on Australia’s specific understanding of the international order. Before 2013,Australia believed that the US led international order was generally stable and did not need to worry too much about China’s rapid development. It believed that China could integrate into the current international order,With China’s "the Belt and Road Initiative" The rapid progress of construction, the rapid modernization of China’s military power, and China’s response to the South China Sea arbitration case have led Australia to believe that China has begun to have a strong ability to impact the existing international order, believing that the existing international order has become unstable, and wanting to unite with other countries to eliminate unstable factors. When Australia believes that some of the United States’ actions are also impacting the existing international order,Australia’s concerns about the United States are also growing Rising rapidly. The third part of this paper will take the "the Belt and Road" in the economic field, the South China Sea arbitration case in the Sino US trade war and security field, and the influence of China and Australia in the Pacific island countries as cases to analyze how Australia perceives China’s behavior, and finally verify the conclusions of this paper through these cases.
