Research On Korea's Unified Public Diplomac

Both South and North Korea have been working to reunify the Korean Peninsula since their respective independence in 1948.But the Korean Peninsula has yet to be reunified.This means that traditional diplomacy is not enough to achieve reunification of the Korean Peninsula,and both South and North Korea need to explore a new path to reunification.In this context,South Korea not only actively promotes unification at the traditional diplomatic level,but also creates a unique unified public diplomacy.The early days of unified public diplomacy were a conceptual idea,not a practical one.However,the unified public diplomacy system has been gradually improved since 2010,when Korea designated the first year of public diplomacy.Unified public diplomacy is to link unification with public diplomacy,and to realize the purpose of propaganda unification by means of public diplomacy.It is the product of the combination of unified diplomacy in content level and public diplomacy in method level.Therefore,this study mainly introduces the new path of South Korea’s unification from the perspective of public diplomacy.By analyzing the subject and object of unified public diplomacy and how to use various resources in the process of promoting it,it systematically summarizes the characteristics and development prospects of unified public diplomacy in South Korea,and finally provides enlightenment for the development of China’s public diplomacy.Through the research on the concrete measures of the promotion of South Korea’s unification public diplomacy,it is found that the policy has distinct characteristics compared with the traditional unification policy: the traditional unification policy is aimed at the DPRK,but the main object of unification public diplomacy is the country closely related to the situation of the Korean Peninsula.Therefore,in the process of implementing unified public diplomacy,South Korea focuses on obtaining the understanding and support of relevant countries for its unified position,adding elements related to reunification on the basis of the original subject,object,available resources and other factors of public diplomacy,and formulating promotion plans with different emphases according to the characteristics of the relations between relevant countries and South Korea.Promote other countries’ understanding of unification public diplomacy,and create a favorable environment for South Korea’s unification program.
