Yitzhak Rabin is a famous contemporary Israeli militarist, diplomat and politician. He once served as the chief of the general staff of the Israel Defense Forces, ambassador to the United States, defense minister, prime minister and other important positions. His entire military and political career,to a certain extent,is a microcosm of Israeli politics and diplomacy during that period.Throughout Rabin’s entire career,he always adhered to the national interests of Israel, considering Israel’s peace and security, and gradually formed the "land for peace" plan. The long-term conflict between Palestine and Israel involves multiple issues: territorial sovereignty, religious beliefs, natural resources, etc.Due to the complexity of these issues,Rabin believes that it is unrealistic for Palestine Israel relations to suddenly transition from a comprehensive conflict to a comprehensive and genuine peace. On the contrary, the leaders of both Palestine and Israel are more likely to engage in frequent or intense transitions from conflict to reconciliation through the implementation of progressive policies. The interpretation of a leader’s concept is an important dimension in explaining the political dynamics that have occurred in the Middle East.Yitzhak Rabin has been actively involved in defining and maintaining Israel’s security, formulating and implementing Israel’s foreign and defense policies. In the process of Rabin’s change in attitude towards Palestine, the "land for peace" plan emerged.Rabin hopes to exchange the Arab territories occupied in the1967 Six Day War for Arab recognition of Israel,so that Israel can survive peacefully and avoid the threat of war. After Rabin served as Prime Minister for the second time, his "land for peace" plan gradually influenced the adjustment of Israel’s national strategy. While continuing to attach great importance to Israel’s national security,he considered initiating peace talks with Arab countries led by Egypt, and successively reached peace agreements with Egypt,Palestine,Jordan, such as the Sinai Agreement,Oslo Agreement, and Washington Declaration. His change in attitude towards Palestine has had a certain impact on the development of the region. The study of its "land for peace" plan not only deepens our understanding of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and even the situation in the Middle East, but also helps us understand the regions that have been in conflict for years. It is not easy to achieve long-term peace and cherish our existing peace even more.
