| The United Front,a major asset of the Communist Party of China,played an important role in the cause of socialist revolution,construction and reform.In the early stage of liberation,the central task of northern Sichuan was to consolidate the new people’s power,promote economic recovery and development,and promote social stability and prosperity,and the development of the United Front played an important role in the completion of the central task.We hope that a more systematic study of the background,implementation,characteristics,and effectiveness of the United Front Work in northern Sichuan will enrich the study of local party history and provide historical reference for the development of the United Front Work today.The situation at the beginning of the united front work in northern Sichuan was not optimistic: the economy was withered,and there were many things to be done;secret agents,bandits and feudal leaders were secretly colluding with each other,engaging in counter-revolutionary activities and threatening the new people’s power;there were only1,600 cadres in the entire northern Sichuan,and the cadres were seriously understaffed.However,the underground members of the northern Sichuan actively carried out united front work before liberation and united a large number of democrats,which,together with the correct leadership of Director Hu Yaobang and the joint efforts of all Party members,created favorable conditions for the smooth implementation of the united front work in northern Sichuan.Northern Sichuan was organized and methodical in carrying out the united front work.The United Front Work in North Sichuan was carried out under the guidance of the United Front Work policy of the CPC Central Committee and the Southwest Bureau.United Front Work Departments were set up in various places with special United Front Work cadres,focusing on intellectuals,industrialists and businessmen,religious people,ethnic minority people and people from democratic parties.The main ways to carry out united front work were: using newspapers and magazines to publicize the Party’s policies,holding united front meetings,convening people’s congresses from all walks of life,organizing political study and ideological reform for people from all walks of life,and helping democratic parties organize and develop their organizations.The United Front work in northern Sichuan is characteristic and effective.For more than two years,the Party Committee and the United Front Work Department of northern Sichuan have been carrying out united front work,taking into account the actual situation of the district,playing an active and positive role,having diversity in working methods,insisting on the combination of unity and struggle,being good at playing the role of propaganda,and focusing on the protection of democrats.It has successfully united a large number of people outside the Party to participate in the construction of the new northern Sichuan,and has done a good job in the united front work of nationalities and religions,promoting social stability and prosperity,and training a group of cadres who are good at doing united front work.The united front work of northern Sichuan also provides some realistic inspiration for our current united front work.For example,the Party Committee of northern Sichuan pays great attention to maintaining the advanced nature of the Party,strengthening the education of Party members in the United Front Work ideology,and improving the cooperative and co-working relationship with people outside the Party.Through the development of the United Front Work,a large number of people outside the Party united around the Party and actively cooperated with and supported the work of the people’s government at all levels in northern Sichuan,and northern Sichuan society began to show a thriving scene.In the new era,we should give full play to the role of the United Front Work and meet the challenges of the new era together under the leadership of the Party. |
