Research On The National United Front Work Of The Communist Party Of China In Yunnan During The Long March Of The Red Army

The Long March was an important period for the CPC to explore,accumulate and adjust the work of national united front.During the Long March,the Communist Party of China faced a specific historical environment and a special historical task,and the national united front work formed a distinctive feature.In the context of the failure of the fifth anti-encirencirment and suppression and the urgent need to realize the strategic shift,the Central Red Army,the second and Sixth Red Corps entered and left Yunnan ethnic minority areas twice in 1935 and 1936 respectively.The social development in these areas was relatively backward,warlords fought for years,and the Kuomintang Han chauvinism discriminated against ethnic minorities,resulting in sharp conflicts among local ethnic groups.Coupled with the Kuomintang’s reactionary propaganda to the minority masses,there is a deep gap between the local minority masses and the Party and the Red Army.Accordingly,the Communist Party of China took up the important responsibility,which was struggling with the enemy and solving the ethnic problems in Yunnan.Therefore,the united front work allowed no delay.Guided by the national United Front thought of Marx,Engels and Lenin and the Sinicized national United Front theory formed by the Party before the Long March of the Red Army,the Communist Party of China formulated and propagated the Party’s ethnic policies in a timely manner,paid attention to the united front work of the upper echelons of ethnic minorities,and helped ethnic minorities develop revolutionary armed forces in accordance with the actual conditions of the ethnic minority areas in Yunnan and in the political and military aspects.Strengthen the ethnic minority compatriots to the Party and the Red Army’s identity;Economically,it protects the interests of ethnic minorities and implements strict grain raising discipline to meet the material needs of ethnic minorities.In social and cultural areas,the customs and religious beliefs of all ethnic minorities are respected,so that ethnic minority compatriots can personally experience ethnic equality.This series of national united front work has distinct characteristics,which are manifested as the universality of the object of united front,the diversification of united front way,and the flexibility of united front strategy.The united front work of the Communist Party of China in Yunnan minority areas is fruitful.Inspired by the United Front work,ethnic minorities in Yunnan served as guides for the Red Army,sent information,provided material support,and rescued the wounded and sick of the Red Army,thus ensuring the smooth realization of the strategic transfer of the Red Army.The relations between the army and the people and the ethnic groups in Yunnan have been improved,and a new chapter has been written in Yunnan ethnic relations.Promoted the development of the national united front work of the Communist Party of China.The research on the history of the national united front work of the Communist Party of China in Yunnan during the Long March reveals that there are some experiences for reference: sticking to the essence of starting from the reality of the national areas;Uphold the correct leadership of the Party;Adhere to the fundamental principle of national equality and unity;Taking bidirectional unity of upper and lower levels as an effective strategy for national united front work;Strictly observing mass discipline is an important guarantee for the orderly development of national united front.On this basis,combining the challenges faced by our national united front work,we draw some practical inspirations: from the reality,we develop national united front work according to the circumstances and places;Uphold the Party’s overall leadership over the work of national united front;Uphold the basic principle of national equality and unity;Strictly abide by the Party’s mass discipline and promote the orderly development of national united front work;Adhere to the path of solving ethnic problems with Chinese characteristics.
