Abstract/Summary:
Justice has always been the goal pursued by human beings, but in theory and practice, justice is usually justice in terms of men,and women’s justice is often concealed, ignored and suppressed.Situated in the reality of Western society,Iris Marion Young, concerned with the increasingly complex situation of women and other disadvantaged groups in capitalist societies in the context of globalization, emphasizes the need to give female groups in contemporary society a voice of their own.Incorporating a gender perspective into her theory of justice,Iris Marion Young examines gender itself from a different perspective than in the past, reconstructs the concept of gender, and emphasizes the need to focus on the problem of injustice between the sexes in order to strive for gender justice.Young makes clear that the mainstream distributive justice discourse of justice ignores three non-distributive issues, including decision-making structures and processes, division of labor, and culture, and fails to address the injustices that currently exist. To this end,Young reconceptualizes the phenomenon of gender injustice as domination and oppression, and refines oppression into five facets that cannot be statutorily defined.Young sees through the appearance of domination and oppression to the social structures behind it that can determine individual identity and status. In exploring the causes of this structural injustice suffered by women’s groups,Young proposes a "monist" theory based on a critique of "dualism" theory, which clarifies that capitalism and patriarchy are not juxtaposed but one and the same, and that gender injustice arises from The root cause of gender injustice is capitalist patriarchy.Rather than the atomized individual,Young focuses on the group of women who pursue justice as a group.Listening to diverse groups of women, such as women of color, disabled, and elderly women, speak about their experiences of exclusion, disregard, and stereotyping in feminist discourse,Young argues that the cause of the realities of women’s groups also lies in the preference of mainstream justice scholars for assimilation. The issue of group difference has been weakened in public life and failed to receive appropriate attention. Therefore,in addition to opposing capitalist patriarchy, the realization of gender justice requires attention to and recognition of group differences and the establishment of "special representation" for women’s groups. Finally, comparing Young’s gender justice ideas with those of three feminist scholars, including Juliet Mitchell,Alison Jagger, and Nancy Fraser, the ideas of these scholars all emerged in a specific context of the times, and exploring the similarities and differences reflects the feminist scholars’ concern for group vulnerability, and also shows the deepening of Young’s research on female subjects and women’s issues, highlighting the strong critical nature of Young’s gender justice ideas and their prominent emphasis on group differences. It also shows the deepening of Young’s research on the female subject and women’s issues, and highlights the strong critical nature of Young’s gender justice thought and its emphasis on group differences.Iris Marion Young’s gender justice thought is centered around three key concepts of reconstructed gender, social structure, and social group, and is of great theoretical and practical significance in responding to the prominent social problems in the new historical context. It provides a new perspective on gender justice issues,in which the "monism" theory of capitalist patriarchy is a great complement and development to the theory of gender justice, and also promotes the development of women’s emancipation. However,Young’s gender justice thought also has certain shortcomings;it overemphasizes the perspective of gender analysis and fails to properly understand the value of Marxist class analysis in gender justice research.
