National security master education is an important part of national security talents cultivation.On December 30,2020,the first-level discipline of national security studies under the interdisciplinary category was officially established,putting forward new requirements for the cultivation of national security talents in Chinese universities.Since the end of World War II,national security education in the United States has developed rapidly,and a relatively mature national security master cultivation model has been formed.Using content analysis,literature analysis,and rooted theory coding,quantitative and qualitative research was combined to focus on the cultivation concept,discipline and specialty system,cultivation objectives and specifications,curriculum and content,teaching methods and methods of the master of National security in the United States,analyzing its structure,content,characteristics and deficiencies,and combining with China’s national security concept and the current situation of national security discipline construction,putting forward some suggestions for the cultivation of national security talents and the construction of disciplines.Through systematic analysis and research,the characteristics of the cultivation mode of national security master in American mainly include the following four aspects Firstly,in terms of cultivation concept,the education policy on national security in the United States has basically completed the legal transformation,showing the characteristics of development oriented by the will of the government,and the talent cultivation concept is constantly adjusted according to the needs of national security.Secondly,in terms of discipline and specialty system,national security-related majors in American universities involve a wide range of fields with prominent key points,and possess both international vision and homeland security awareness,with remarkable characteristics of interdisciplinary talent cultivation.Thirdly,in terms of cultivation objectives and cultivation specifications,the cultivation mode of national security masters in American universities aims at "risk identification and threat response",takes "knowledge","skills" and "competence" as the main components,and is oriented towards professional competency.Fourthly,in terms of curriculum teaching,the curriculum of national security major in the United States is highly consistent with the educational needs.Curriculum teaching is tailored to local conditions,with information science as the key teaching content.However,the cultivation mode of American national security master also has the following four deficiencies.Firstly,the cultivation mode has the color of international expansion and hegemonism;Secondly,the integrity of talent cultivation needs to be improved;Thirdly,the construction of disciplinary and professional system is not systematic;Fourthly,the curriculum and teaching content lag behind.Based on the above research,some suggestions are put forward for the cultivation and discipline construction of national security talents.Firstly,in the aspect of cultivation concept and cultivation specifications,national security education should set up the cultivation concept in the broad sense of national security thinking,create three-dimensional cultivation specifications for talents with overall national security as the core,and enact relevant laws on national security education as soon as possible.Second,in the aspect of discipline construction,we should draw lessons from the characteristics of "four taking into account" in the United States to construct the second-level discipline system of national security science.National security intelligence should play an important role in national security science and give play to the specialty characteristics and expertise of universities in the process of discipline construction.Thirdly,at the level of curriculum and teaching,the curriculum setting of national security should conform to the actual educational needs,keep pace with The Times,constantly enrich the teaching content and teaching methods,combine the concept of community of human destiny with national security education,and show the responsibility of a major country in the present changeable international environment.
