A Study On The Influencing Factors Of Urban Residents’ Sense Of Community Safety

The sense of social safety is a barometer of Peaceful China Initiative.Community is a constituent unit of the society.The sense of community safety’s change reflects the trend of social safety,and affects the construction of modernization of grass-roots governance system and governance ability.Through extensive literature research,it is found that there is a wealth of research on the sense of safety,but research on the sense of community safety is relatively scarce.In order to enrich the research on it,this study analyzes the sense of community safety from three perspectives: the physical environment of community,the social capital of community,and the anomie risk of community.Based on the existing theoretical results,this study first clarified the concept and constitutive dimension of the sense of community safety.At the same time,based on CPTED theory,social capital theory and risk society theory,the four concepts—the sense of community safety,the physical environment of community,the social capital of community and the anomie risk of community—are operationally defined.On this basis,the community safety questionnaire is compiled.In addition,a scientific sampling method was designed to determine F City as the sampling frame,and 388 samples were selected from the city’s communities for hypothesis testing through multistage sampling.By referring to research experience,this study uses structural equation model for path analysis and multi-group comparative analysis.The findings are as follows: first,the higher the level of community physical environment construction,the higher the sense of community safety will be.Secondly,the lower the risk level of community anomie,the higher the sense of community safety of residents.Third,community physical environment can not only directly affect the sense of community safety,but also indirectly affect it through community anomie risk.Fourth,although there is no direct effect between community social capital and residents’ sense of community safety,community social capital indirectly affects the sense of community safety through community anomie risk.Fifth,there are group differences in the impact of community physical environment,community social capital and community anomie risk on the sense of community safety.The research model has cross-group validity on gender,education level,occupational status and income level,while different characteristics may have a moderating effect on the influence path in terms of age,marital status and residential community type.According to the above analysis process,this study puts forward the following suggestions:based on the physical environment of community,weave the community video surveillance network,strengthen the control of community access,and improve the construction of community infrastructure;based on the social capital of community,strengthen residents’ emotional attachment,deepen residents’ participation mechanism,and promote the construction of neighbors’ mutual assistance;based on the anomie risk of community,the community police mechanism should be comprehensively optimized and the early warning system of community risk should be established.
