| Minority sports activities are an important part of ethnic culture.In the course of their long history,the Hmong people have created a rich,diverse and distinctive sporting activity and sporting culture.Sports activities of the Hmong people have recorded the history of the development of the Hmong people in their unique form,became a highly representative symbol of the culture of the Hmong people and played an important role in ethnic communication,exchange and integration.This paper from the perspective of sports anthropology,takes the Hmong’s sports as the research object,on the basis of the first-hand data obtained from fieldwork,puts the current situation and future development of the Hmong’s sports in the context of building a strong sports country and realizing the dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation,in an attempts to provide a new case study for the in-depth development of ethnic sports and the protection and inheritance of ethnic culture.This paper consists of four parts: Introduction,Main text,Conclusion and References.The introduction firstly introduces the reasons for choosing the topic of this paper.As an important member of the Chinese ethnic community,the study of the Hmong’s sports is of great significance in building a strong sporting country,promoting the spirit of Chinese national sports and forging a sense of Chinese ethnic community.The research review is presented in two sections: Sports anthropology and Wenshan Hmong Sports Studies.The research methodology used in this paper is presented at the end of the chapter.The main text consists of four parts: an overview of Wenshan Prefecture and the Hmong in Wenshan,the main contents of contemporary the Hmong people’s sports activities,the characteristics of contemporary the Hmong people’s sports development and its problems,and a discussion on the future development path of contemporary the Hmong people’s sports.The first chapter introduces the geographical location,historical evolution,ethnic distribution,natural resources of Wenshan Prefecture and ethnic origin,ethnic name,population,language and script,and distribution pattern of the Hmong people.The second Chapter introduces the existing traditional and modern sports activities of the Hmong in Wenshan,and uses ethnographic theories to analyse to the evolution of Hmong sports,their socio-cultural background,and their impact on society.The traditional sports activities include blowing guns,bamboo guns,crossbows and slingshots,skirting stands,climbing flower poles,playing gyroscopes,playing shuttlecocks,playing twine balls and bubble balls,dancing asparagus,and Hmong martial arts,etc.The Modern sports activities include the most representative Hmong gymnastics and boxing.The third chapter analyses the characteristics of the development of contemporary the Hmong people’s sports and the problems that exist.The Hmong’s sports on the whole show the characteristics of competition,marketization,festival and integration.In the process of development,there are problems such as the lack of inheritance subjects and awareness of inheritance,limited cultural level of inheritance personnel and single mode of inheritance.Chapter 4 explores the future development path of the Hmong’s sports from both government and society.The government is mainly responsible for providing macro-level guidance and leadership,and each government department is responsible for strengthening the declaration of nontraditional heritage and the training of non-genetic inheritors;promoting the development path of "sports + tourism";relying on events and festivals to create an atmosphere and stimulate awareness of heritage;strengthening the construction of sports infrastructure and exploring the development potential of the countryside;and giving full play to the advantages of the location to develop cross-border sports exchange activities.The social level mainly refers to civil society organisations,mainly at the state level and county Hmong societies,schools at all levels and members within the Hmong community for micro practices.The concluding section summarises the whole text and gives an outlook on the expected results of the development of Hmong sport in Wenshan. |
