In the 14 th Five-Year Plan,China clearly stated that China should actively respond to the challenge of population aging, formulate a long-term population development strategy, optimize the fertility policy and enhance its inclusiveness.In2020,the proportion of the population aged 65 and over in Tianjin will be 14.75%,and the proportion of the population aged 65 and over will be 13.5% in 2020.The degree of aging in Tianjin is much higher than the national average, and its aging rate shows a trend of increasing. The intensification of population aging greatly affects the consumption situation, and the change of consumption is bound to affect economic development,so studying the impact of Tianjin’s population aging on residents’ consumption is of great practical significance for the government to formulate policies to cope with population aging, promote sustainable economic development, and stabilize the healthy development of society. In this thesis, the following empirical analysis is carried out from 2001 to 2020 in Tianjin: At the level of consumption level, the direct impact of tianjin population aging on the consumption level of residents is quantitatively analyzed by establishing a consumption function model,so as to lay a foundation for studying the indirect impact of population aging on residents’ consumption level in Tianjin. Then, through the establishment of the intermediary effect, the indirect impact of the aging population of Tianjin on the consumption level of residents is studied. At the level of consumption structure: The impact of Tianjin’s aging population on the consumption structure of residents is studied by using the grey correlation degree analysis method. The results show that:(1)The gradual intensification of the aging of the population in Tianjin will lead to a continuous decline in the consumption level of residents.(2)The intensification of the aging of the population in Tianjin will lead to a shortage of labor supply, resulting in a decrease in the level of consumption of residents.(3)The intensification of population aging inhibits the improvement of residents’ consumption level by inhibiting social labor productivity.(4)The correlation between the aging population and the consumption expenditure of medical care, transportation and communication, culture and entertainment in Tianjin is high, but the correlation with the consumption expenditure of clothing and residence is low. Finally, based on the above conclusions, relevant suggestions are made to increase the consumption level of the elderly group.
