The Independent Thought Of Mao Zedong And Its Contemporary Value

The independent thought of Mao Zedong is a scientific conclusion and a summary of experience that drawn from the long-term practice of China’s revolution,construction and reform on the basis of carrying on Marxism-Leninism and the excellent traditional Chinese culture.The thought of independence is the important principle for the Party to lead the people to unswervingly follow their own path in all aspects in accordance with their own national conditions,relying on their own strength,adhering to principle of self-reliance as the primary and seeking foreign aid as the secondary.It played an important guiding role in the process of China’s revolution,construction and reform,ran through the process of Mao Zedong thought development and it was one of the living souls of Mao Zedong thought.Adhering to the thought of independence was a foothold for the Communist Party of China to explore the path of China’s revolution,construction and reform.It was an inevitable requirement for the Chinese people to overthrow the "three mountains" in the period of the new democratic revolution and finally realize national independence and people’s liberation.Mao Zedong led the Chinese people to adhere to the guidance of independence,integrated the basic tenets of Marxism with China’s realities and fine traditional Chinese culture,realized a great leap forward in adapting Sinicization of Marxism and created great achievements in adapting Sinicization of Marxism and needing of our times.The Sixth Plenary Session of the 19 th CPC Central Committee pointed out that“Independence is the soul of the Chinese nation and an important principle for founding the Party and the country.To follow our own path is the historical conclusion drawn from the Party’s century-long struggle.” The report to the Party’s20th National Congress continued to stress that "The road to success in the Party’s century-long struggle was blazed out independently by the people under the leadership of the Party,and the Chinese chapter of Marxism was developed by Chinese Communists relying on their own efforts.One of the fundamental points running through is that China’s problems must be answered by the Chinese people in light of China’s basic national conditions." To continue to uphold and develop the thought of independence in the new era,we must always strengthen the four self-confidence,at the same time,on the new journey,China’s future and destiny should be based on its own strength and realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through Chinese-style modernization.In addition,to uphold the ideology of independence,we must work hard to safeguard state sovereignty and national dignity,properly handle relations between the state and political parties,and actively build a new type of international relations and relations between political parties.While promoting own independence and development,we should also offer China’s wisdom,strength and solutions to other countries and nations.This paper discusses the theoretical origin and historical development process of the independence,analyzes connotation and implication of the independent thought,expound it’s important historical position and probes into the great theoretical and practical value to always adhere to the idea of independence in the new era.
