| With the popularization and development of Internet technology,China is undergoing a transformation from a single e-government to digital governance. In the process of this transformation, the e-government platform of our government has been established and improved, and various government departments have begun to penetrate the use of various social media platforms in the daily work of civil servants, and the daily work communication and information delivery mode of our civil servants have undergone great changes. It is true that the promotion of digital governance has expanded the channels of government information transmission and increased the speed of information transmission, but while it brings convenience to the office of civil servants, the phenomenon of government information overload cannot be ignored.Faced with the massive amount of government information, the mental health state and work engagement level of civil servants may be affected, and the mechanism of its influence needs to be further clarified and interpreted.Based on the theoretical framework of job demands-resources model and combined with resource conservation theory, this study explored the role of government information overload on civil servants’ work engagement by processing and analyzing data from a sample of 206 working civil servants, and also analyzed the relationship between government information overload, emotional exhaustion, sense of organizational support and work engagement. The empirical study showed that(1)government information overload has a significant negative predictive effect on civil servants’ work engagement.(2)Emotional exhaustion mediates the effect of government information overload on civil servants’ work engagement.(3)Organizational support plays a moderating role in the relationship between the effects of emotional exhaustion on civil servants’ work engagement. The study reveals and enriches the underlying mechanisms of government information overload affecting civil servants work engagement, and provides some positive and meaningful suggestions for promoting relevant research on civil servants’ work engagement and government administrative practices. |
