| The issue of marriage for persons with disabilities is a part of society that must be taken seriously as persons with disabilities should also have equal rights and opportunities to marry as a basic requirement of human rights and social justice. However, the reality is that people with disabilities face additional challenges and difficulties in relation to marriage.Firstly, there is a degree of prejudice and discrimination against people with disabilities in society, which can lead to difficulties in finding a partner and establishing a stable marital relationship. The self-confidence of people with disabilities may also be affected, which in turn affects their performance and satisfaction in marital relationships.Secondly, people with disabilities have to face more practical problems and challenges in marriage, such as physical barriers, financial difficulties, psychological stress, etc.,which may negatively affect the relationship and even lead to its breakdown.Exploring the issue of marriage for persons with disabilities can therefore help us to better understand the challenges and needs faced by persons with disabilities in marriage and to develop more just and humane policies and measures to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in marriage, while at the same time, this can also help to eliminate prejudice and discrimination against persons with disabilities and promote a more inclusive and equal society. This paper analyses the factors affecting the marital status of persons with disabilities aged 20-59 based on data from the 2020 National Survey on Dynamic Update of Information on Basic Service Status and Needs of Persons with Disabilities in Jilin Province. The results of the data analysis show that the marital status of persons with disabilities in Jilin Province is influenced by a variety of factors, including age, gender, disability level, type of disability, education level, employment status and social security support. The degree of physical disability is one of the most important factors affecting the marital status of people with disabilities, and the more severe their disability, the more unstable their marital status.Secondly, the economic status of the family is also one of the important factors affecting the marital status of people with disabilities. When choosing a partner, people with disabilities tend to give priority to the other person’s family’s financial situation,as they need to have sufficient financial support to cope with the special needs of people with disabilities. Also, the level of education is one of the most important factors influencing the marital status of people with disabilities. The higher the level of education of people with disabilities, the more they focus on the cultural quality and values of the other person when choosing a partner. In addition, the presence or absence of employment is also an important factor influencing the marital status of people with disabilities.Studies have shown that people with disabilities who are employed are more likely to get married, while those who are not employed have more difficulty finding a suitable partner, possibly because having a job enhances the social status and economic income of people with disabilities, while not having a job may make it more difficult for people with disabilities to bear the financial burden of marriage and family. Finally, the heterogeneity analysis in this study revealed significant differences in the marital status and influencing factors of people with disabilities across disability types and disability levels. For example, people with disabilities with lesser disability levels were more likely to have stable marital relationships, while those with higher disability levels faced greater marital stress and barriers.Overall, many factors are involved in influencing the marital status of people with disabilities. This study provides important references and insights into the social living conditions and plight of the disabled community,in order to promote the quality of life and well-being of disabled people. |
