With the development and popularisation of information technology in society,the narrative carrier in ideological and cultural communication is gradually changing from language to textual symbols and then to visual images.Educators use the realisation of ideological and political education as a narrative goal to properly assign meaning to images,making the symbolic representation system of images an important proposition in people’s lives once again.The development of ideological and political education image narratives in China has a long history.From ancient times to the new era,image narratives have been influenced by the level of productivity and traditional cultural thought,and have had different manifestation characteristics at different times.Practice has shown that ideological and political education image narratives have flourished under the corroboration of Marxist popularisation and popularisation,ideological visualisation and ideological and political education carrier theory.In addition,the knowledge of related disciplines such as narratology and communication science has also provided theoretical references for ideological and political education image narratives.The era of image-based narratives has provided an opportunity for the development of ideological and political education narratives,image technology has opened up new horizons for ideological and political education narratives,and media convergence has strengthened the foundation for the development of ideological and political education narratives.However,there are also real problems with the presentation of one-sided content,the entertainment of image resources and the impact of Western image communication.The main reasons for this are the bias of image literacy,the irrational dissemination of image information,the failure to build images for ideological and political education methods and the lack of investment in the development of image resources.The improvement of ideological and political education image narratives should be based on the principles of unity of theory and life,unity of indoctrination and inspiration,unity of education and artistry,and adherence to unity of diversity and inclusiveness.In concrete practice,ideological and political education subjects and clients should improve their image literacy through continuous learning,educators should reasonably improve the use of images in ideological and political education narratives,and promote the diversified integration of image narratives with verbal narratives,textual narratives and practical narratives.
