"German Socialism" is a kind of petty bourgeois utopian socialism advocated by some German intellectual radicals in the 1840 s.Its philosophical basis is mainly Hegelian idealism,Feuerbach’s humanism and English French utopian socialism. The main representatives of this school are Carl Gruen,Moses Hess, etc. The "German Socialism" publicized its erroneous views, which had a bad impact on the German working class and proletarian movement at that time. Therefore,Marx and Engels severely criticized "German Socialism" from three aspects:philosophical basis, aesthetic literature and reactionary essence, cleared up the negative impact of "German Socialism" on the working class, promoted the vigorous development of the German workers’ movement, and promoted the formation of scientific socialism. In the process of criticizing "German Socialism",Marx and Engels fully demonstrated the scientific, practical, revolutionary, people oriented and developmental principles of Marxist theory. At present, our society also has a variety of social trends of thought.Fully learning from Marx and Engels in the process of criticizing "real socialism" will help us better identify these social trends and fight against them.In a word, through the study of Marx and Engels’ criticism of "German Socialism",this paper aims to provide some theoretical support for the practice in the field of ideology in China.
