Research On The Negative Influence Of Populism Trend Of Thought On Contemporary College Students’ Democratic Consciousness And Its Countermeasures

As the globalization develops,the spreading of populism trend of thought can be seen all over the world.The populism trend of thought has become one of China’s "Ten Social Trends Worthy of Attention" over the years with China’s accession to the WTO and its continuous integration into economic globalization.Therefore,the penetration of the populism trend of thought into the ideological field of our country is found.In particular,it has generated a negative impact on the formation of scientific democratic consciousness of contemporary college students.When it comes to the ideas of populism trend of thought,the features such as the overemphasis on the dominance of the people at the bottom,the advocacy of the extreme principle of political equality,and the advocacy of simplistic direct democracy,as well as the presentation of basic characteristics such as irrationality,grassroots,and criticality are shown.Therefore,it will lead to the doubt of the leadership of the Communist Party of China,the misunderstanding of the true meaning of the common interests of society,the doubt of the feasibility of socialist deliberative democracy,the generation of irrational thinking and words and deeds,and the democracy and superiority of the People’s Congress if contemporary college students accept and identify with the populism trend of thought.As for the reason,it lies in that the contemporary college students themselves lack dialectical thinking,lack of democratic knowledge and lack of grasp of the theoretical knowledge of socialism with Chinese characteristics.This has become an inevitable and realistic choice for the purpose of eliminating the obstacles and adverse effects of populism trend of thought on the formation of contemporary college students’ scientific democratic consciousness,helping college students improve their dialectical thinking ability,popularize democratic knowledge,and enhance their cognition and understanding of the theory of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
