Moral education is an important condition and guarantee for the construction of socialist modernisation,for the healthy growth of students,and as a basis and guarantee for achieving the goals of moral education in China.Ideological and political education is an important element of moral education,which includes the construction of China’s spiritual civilisation and the core socialist values,and is an important way to solve social contradictions and problems.In the new era,the science of moral education has become more urgent.At a macro level,the construction of an integrated moral education system led by the core socialist values requires the support of multiple disciplines such as pedagogy,philosophy,sociology and traditional culture.Many of the concepts and propositions of Confucianism and doctrine are derived from the Zhongyong,and the methodologies of the Zhongyong are used to reflect on them,and these works have had a profound impact on the formation of Chinese civilisation.In order to implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instruction of "insisting on combining the basic principles of Marxism with the concrete reality of China and with the excellent Chinese traditional culture",it is imperative for ideological and political education in schools to integrate the excellent Chinese traditional culture.This paper attempts to put into practice the important speech of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s "Two Combinations".This paper attempts to combine the important ideological philosophies in The Mean with Marxist theory,and discusses them at the national,social and personal levels,which is conducive to enhancing the cultural self-confidence of contemporary students,replenishing their spiritual calcium and strengthening their faith,deepening their understanding of socialist culture with Chinese characteristics,enabling them to gain a deeper understanding of why Marxism has taken deep roots in China,enriching the content of Marxist Chinese education content,and provide a reference for ideological and political education in the new era.Ever since Zhu Xi of the Southern Song Dynasty incorporated the Zhongyong into the Four Books of Confucianism,the Zhongyong has been an important part of the imperial examinations from the Yuan Dynasty to the end of the Qing Dynasty,an initiative that has profoundly influenced the way of thinking and behaviour of generations of Chinese scholars.The kernel spirit of the Zhongyong profoundly embodied the spirituality and moral pursuits of Chinese literati,and played a very important role in the ideological and moral education of traditional Chinese society.In this paper,we explore the inspiration of traditional Confucianism on moral education and explore the influence of Confucianism’s "benevolence","propriety","loyalty and forgiveness" and "filial piety " in Confucianism to guide the behaviour,character and inner cultivation of students in the new era in a positive way.The discussion in this paper takes a deeper look at the logical lineage of socialist core values-the individual,society and the state.At the individual level,it focuses on the important role of the education of "sincerity" in the Zhongyong for students to practise the core socialist values,as well as the extension of the "five paths" and "three virtues" to "sincerity"."The " Five Dao " and " Three Virtues " are an extension of " Sincerity "and regulate the code of conduct and the way of thinking of students.The " Respect for Virtue " and " The Way to Learn " are based on " Sincerity ",guiding students to correct their attitudes towards learning and to treat learning with a developmental perspective and attitude,as well as to analyse and describe the " Filial Piety " of the Zhongyong;in the discussion of the social dimension,the focus is on " Rites ".In the discussion of the social dimension,the focus is on " rites ",and the meaning of " the middle way " is elaborated through " rites ",exploring the idea of " sincerity " on the basis of " rites " and " the middle way "." The exploration at the national level focuses on "loyalty" and "supreme sanctity" to awaken the spiritual core of students and educate them to pursue The exploration at the national level focuses on "loyalty" and "supreme sainthood",awakening students’ spiritual core and educating them to pursue "supreme sainthood",thus guiding them to closely link their personal ideals with those of the nation.The article concludes with an analysis of the modern value of the moral philosophy of The Meaning of the Middle Kingdom in order to bring its maximum effectiveness into play for socialist education with Chinese characteristics in the new era.With its philosophical theories of reverence for heavenly humanity and cultivation of the body,and with the pursuit of becoming a gentleman and a saint in life,the Zhongyong is able to inspire students’ inner pursuit of becoming a saint and a sage.The practice of "Zhong He" and the ideal state of "Supreme Sincerity" provide a direction for the pursuit of personal ideals in life and encourage students to see the virtuous and think of the virtuous.It also provides a reference for the educator’s approach to education,in the pursuit of continuous progress and the cultivation of the noble quality of choosing goodness and stubbornness,while at the same time building on the students’ daily lives,cultivating in them the ability to constantly improve themselves in life,to remain faithful in interpersonal interactions and to maintain an attitude of unity of knowledge and action in learning.This is an indispensable treasure trove of ideas for moral education in the new era,and is a practical application of the "two unions" in school education.
