China’s aging is taking place in the era of rapid development of digitalization and informatization. In addition to the sudden serious epidemic, the aging problem is facing unprecedented risks and challenges. With the transformation and upgrading of economy and society and the change of fertility concept, the family size is becoming smaller and the family population is scattered.Facing the increasingly serious problem of population aging, the traditional intergenerational support between families is an important guarantee for the elderly. However, with the continuous extension of working hours of young people and the sharp rise of living costs, the elderly group in the family can not get the due care and care, and the family pension model is in a dilemma. In order to alleviate the burden of family pension, the social pension insurance system, which aims to provide pension security and wealth redistribution, has been gradually valued and promoted.Based on this background, this paper uses the data in 2018 from the Chinese Longitudinal Health Longevity Survey(clhls),takes the family economic vulnerability and income inequality as the intermediate mechanism, uses Tobit and IV Tobit models, and uses empirical methods to test the impact of social endowment insurance on children’s intergenerational support Data selection and regression methods were tested for robustness, and then the elderly groups were grouped and analyzed for heterogeneity from the aspects of marital status, education level, whether to live with their children and age.The research shows that participating in social endowment insurance will squeeze out the economic support given by children to the elderly, and squeeze in the time support given by children to the elderly, which has passed the robustness test in many aspects.Through mechanism analysis,it is found that participating in social endowment insurance will reduce family economic vulnerability and income inequality, and will significantly affect children’s intergenerational support. In the heterogeneity analysis,it is found that among the elderly who are unmarried, with low education level,do not live with their children or are old,the impact of participating in social endowment insurance on their children’s intergenerational support is more significant.Based on this conclusion, the paper puts forward some suggestions on improving the social endowment insurance system, promoting the diversified development of endowment resources and strengthening family care support policies.
