The Study Of Relationship Between The Lao PDR And ASEAN

In 1991,after the collapse of the socialist bloc,the Lao PDR needed to join the regional group to provide a favourable opportunity for its socio-economic development.The Lao PDR considered that ASEAN was one of the regional groups suitable for the Lao PDR to join.The Association of Southeast Asia Nations,or ASEAN,is a regional intergovernmental organization that promotes economic,political,and security cooperation among its members.On this premise,the Lao PDR entrance to ASEAN is consistent with reality.The role of Lao PDR in ASEAN activities has been implemented to the Party and State’s foreign policy guidelines into reality,contributing to the creation of a regional environment of peace and stability conducive to the socio-economic development of the Lao PDR.The purpose of the research is to study the history of ASEAN and why Lao PDR decided to join ASEAN;the contributions of the Lao PDR to ASEAN’s frameworks since joining ASEAN up to now,and the benefits that the Lao PDR has received from ASEAN and from the international community through the ASEAN’s frameworks.At the same time,my research paper will be updated information for students or researchers who want to study the history of ASEAN in the future.Additionally,this thesis aims to understand better why the Lao PDR joined ASEAN and demonstrate how ASEAN has significantly increased Laos’ international profile.I will also discuss some of the Lao PDR’s weaknesses as well as ASEAN’s accomplishments in assisting the country’s development.
