With the rapid changes in the social structure and the acceleration of the aging process, the issue of providing for the elderly has attracted widespread attention from all walks of life.At present,my country’s pension service system mainly includes family pension based on intergenerational support and social pension dominated by the social pension insurance system. In the 14 th Five-Year Plan,it is clearly proposed to establish and improve basic, inclusive and diversified health services to further meet the growing needs of the elderly in all-round,high-quality health care.On the whole, family pension relying on the intergenerational support of children is still the main pension model in our society, and the elderly mostly rely on the financial support, life care and spiritual comfort provided by their children in their later years.Due to the core and miniaturization of the family structure, the responsibility of supporting parents has been weakened day by day,and the family pension function has weakened, and the socialized pension service system has emerged as the times require.Although the establishment of the social security system has greatly reduced the pressure on family pensions, the inherent dual structure of urban and rural areas restricts the fairness and efficiency of the pension system. In order to achieve the balanced development of urban and rural areas, the State Council will promote the integration of the new basic oldage insurance for rural residents and the basic old-age insurance for urban residents, and build a fair and unified basic old-age insurance system for urban and rural residents.improve the quality of life in old age.In the process of interaction between the two, what impact will the basic endowment insurance for urban and rural residents have on the intergenerational support for children? What is the role of the basic endowment insurance for urban and rural residents on intergenerational support for children? This has become a topic of common concern in academia and the public sector. This study takes the basic endowment insurance for urban and rural residents as the starting point, and divides the intergenerational support into three levels: intergenerational economic support, daily life care and spiritual comfort, and uses the tracking survey data of China’s elderly health influence factors to empirically test the effect of the basic endowment insurance for urban and rural residents. The influence of intergenerational support of children, the following conclusions are drawn: First, there is a negative correlation between the basic endowment insurance for urban and rural residents and the intergenerational economic support behavior of children. The basic endowment insurance for urban and rural residents will have a “crowding out” effect on the intergenerational economic support of children, that is,compared with the elderly who do not participate in the basic endowment insurance for urban and rural residents, the insured elderly are more likely to receive intergenerational economic support from their children reduce.Second, the basic endowment insurance for urban and rural residents increases the disposable resources of the elderly and expands the scope of participation in exchange. At the same time, based on the compensation for economic support, children will correspondingly increase the support for the elderly’s life care and spiritual comfort. Therefore, urban and rural residents Basic endowment insurance will have a "crowding-in" effect on intergenerational care support and spiritual comfort support.Third, through the mediating effect test,it is concluded that there is a mediating effect between urban and rural residents’ basic endowment insurance and intergenerational support for children, with whether to do housework and care for grandchildren as mediating variables. Most elderly parents take the initiative to take care of their grandchildren out of their own emotional needs and in exchange for the return of child support, and even do housework within their ability to reduce the burden on their children.Fourth, from the heterogeneity analysis,we can see that there are regional differences in the impact of urban and rural residents’ basic endowment insurance on intergenerational support for children. The coordinated development of family pension and social pension is a choice in line with my country’s national conditions. While establishing and improving the social pension security system,it is necessary to pay attention to the dominant position of the family, link social pension with family pension,so as to create a good social atmosphere of "not worrying about old age,not afraid of old age",and jointly promote the happiness of the elderly. In view of this, from the perspective of improving the welfare level and quality of life of the elderly, this study puts forward suggestions such as improving the level of oldage security, strengthening the function of family old-age care, and expanding the socialized supply of old-age resources.
