A Study On Practice Of The Mass Line Of The Local Party Newspaper

In the 1940 s,with the development of the Yan’an Rectification,the mass line advocated by MAO zedong became more and more mature.The mass view of“everything for the masses,everything depends on the masses” and the working method of “from the masses to the masses” became the purpose and line of the CPC’s actions in all fields.As an important medium for the Party to communicate with the masses,the Party newspaper was bound to implement the mass line.After the revamping of Jiefang Daily,the mass line of the Party newspaper gradually matured around the principle of unity of Party spirit and mass character.At the same time,this newspaper line extended to every region where the Communist Party of China’s power was located,played a very important role in the organization and mobilization in the revolutionary war years.Yanfu Mass was the most prominent popular Party newspaper which practiced the mass line in central China.Yanfu Mass was first published on April 25,1943 in Yanfu village in northern Jiangsu province,which was part of the Anti-Japanese Base Area in Central China.During the period of the revolutionary war,it became a famous popular newspaper in northern Jiangsu and even central China with its distinctive characteristics of “coming from the masses and going to the masses”,and also left a strong mark in the history of the Communist Party of China’s newspaper.This paper takes the Yanfu Mass as investigation object and try to study the newspaper’s running mode from three perspective that is whose newspaper,a newspaper for whom and the newspaper rely on who on the basis of understanding the background of the Yanfu Mass.The study of this masses’ newspaper which adhere to the publish in the front line of war will also further investigate the local practice of the mass line of the party newspaper originated in Yan’an.Yan Fu Mass was first of all a Party newspaper that served the propaganda and organization of the Communist Party of China.Its leadership is firmly in the hands of the local committee of Yan Fu.In the editorial principle,it always took the party’s position as the criterion and the work of the local center as the guide,so as to use the newspaper to strengthen the connection between the party and the masses as well as promote the construction of base areas.In addition,the strict control of the party organization over the party newspaper and the complete implementation of the central policy by the local newspapers were the embodiment of the “unified” leadership system that the Communist Party of China had established in order to meeting the needs of the revolutionary situation,which was highly centralized and organized both vertically and horizontally,and also laied the organizational foundation for the implementation of the mass line of the Party newspaper.Under the leadership of the Communist Party of China,Yanfu Mass firmly implemented the mass line.Absorbing the workers’ and peasants’ language and folk art in the form of expression;closing to the needs of the masses in the content of the article,letting the masses on the front page of the newspaper,the whole newspaper became the newspaper of the masses.In addition,Yanfu Mass also relied on the masses to run the newspaper,through the construction of the workers and peasants communication network to make up for the shortage of manuscript source and staff and the difficulty to close to the masses when the intellectuals running a newspaper in the war period.The practice of running the newspaper all vividly embodied the mass view of “everything for the masses,everything depends on the masses” and the working method of “from the masses to the masses”,which not only brought tangible benefits to the local people,but also objectively promoted the base area construction of the Communist Party of China.The newspaper played an important role in improving the cultural level of the masses,transforming the intellectuals,constructing political identity,carrying out works and even training a contingent of cadres.The practice of running the Yanfu Mass was the unity of Party spirit and mass character.The Communist Party of China won the political identity of the masses in the process of running the newspaper which followed the principle of “run a newspaper for the masses,run a newspaper by the masses”,so that they could implement the party’s guidelines and policy,organize and mobilize the masses effectively,and carry out all kinds of the work in the area of Yanfu and even central China.Moreover,this ability of organization and mobilization of the Communist Party of China further promote the political and cultural turn of the masses,making the masses obtained the tangible benefits.This was the core of the “mass line” advocated by the Communist Party of China--to unify the interests of the party and the masses and then realize the political goals of the party by realizing the interests of the masses.The experience of running the Yanfu Mass was the precious wealth left in the process of the revolutionary war of the Communist Party of China.Its insistence on the party spirit,active interaction with the masses,as well as its attention to the needs and characteristics of the masses,all have important enlightenment significance to today’s media.
